Katy Perry Reportedly ‘Devastated’ Over Death Of Johnny Lewis

Johnny Lewis, the former Sons of Anarchy actor who was found dead under bizarre circumstances a few days ago, used to date singer Katy Perry back before she hit worldwide fame in 2008. According to gossip sites, Perry is “devastated” over the death of Lewis, and many of her early songs are inspired by him.

Perry and Lewis dated between 2005 and 2006, and a source close to the singer told Us Weekly that the 27-year-old was devastated upon hearing of her one-time boyfriend’s death on Thursday. Stranger still, the source said that Perry could tell that Lewis was headed down a dark path when they split up.

“She had to separate from him . . . to get ahead and focus on her career,” the source explains. “He was in trouble then and she couldn’t help him. A lot of her songs were partially inspired by him. I know ‘The One That Got Away’ and ‘Circle the Drain’ are partly about him, as well as Travis [McCoy of Gym Class Heroes]. But she was young and it was a time in her life she cherishes.”

Perry has since risen to worldwide fame after her 2008 breakout hit “I Kissed a Girl,” married comedian Russell Brand in 2010, and finalized her divorce from him earlier this year. Still, the source says that she never fully let go of Lewis.

“They had good times. It’s really sad. She could never help him and couldn’t [let herself] go in that direction.”

If Perry is truly devastated, her Twitter certainly doesn’t show it (thought maybe that’s more telling). Her last tweet on September 27:

However, EntertainmentWise reports that Perry’s best friend, Shannon Woodward, took to Twitter and post about Lewis. The tweet reportedly read:

“Johnny Lewis, I love you deeply and madly and always. My heart is broken in a million little pieces. I will miss you every day… (He) was one of my best friends. He was very, very ill. His actions were a despicable result of that. It was not who he was.”

She deleted the tweet later, replacing it with:

My thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with the friends and family of Catherine Davis.

Catherine Davis was the 81-year-old woman whom Johnny Lewis allegedly beat to death before ultimately dying himself.
