Justin Timberlake ‘Totally Down’ For Britney Spears Collab: Will She Be On His New Album?

Fans have been hoping for a Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake collaboration, and it very well may happen. It seems like both exes are down with working with each other.

Justin Timberlake, 35, and Britney Spears, 35, used to be one of Hollywood’s cutest couples. Now, just days after Spears revealed that she would be willing to work with Timberlake, sources told Hollywood Life that he’s not entirely opposed to the idea.

“Just would be totally down with doing a song with Britney sometime in the future,” the inside source said. “He would want it to be something amazing and not just do it for the nostalgia of it all. Though he is not actively pursuing a duet with her, he would welcome the discussion and would be happy if it were to happen.”

In a new interview for BreathHeavy’s Ask Anything, reports Hollywood Life, Spears revealed some of her dream music collaborators.

“I would love to work with…Aerosmith he [lead singer Steven Tyler] seems very good and bright,” Spears said during the live chat. “He’s a genius, I think. He’s very rock ‘n roll and sings from the soul. Gwen Stefani, I think she’s great. Justin Timberlake is very good.”

In case you forgot, Justin Timberlake penned “Cry Me a River,” which is allegedly about Spears cheating on him when they dated. Now, it looks like both Spears and Timberlake have moved on from their past. Even though it’s been 14 years since their split, fans are still hoping that Spears and Timberlake would collaborate sometime in the near future. Even Timberlake’s former N’SYNC member Lance Bass is down for a collaboration between the two artists, reports People.

Both have since moved on and have children of their own. Spears has married two times and had several long-term relationships, while Timberlake is married to Jessica Biel.

Fans were first obsessed with the pair, who dated from 1999 to 2002, according to Hollywood Life. In the humble beginnings of Spears’ career, she would open for N’SYNC. Her first-ever performance at the MTV Video Music Awards was actually with Timberlake and his boy band when she performed “…Baby One More Time” and they performed “Tearin’ Up My Heart.”

It was 17 years ago, so it kind of makes sense that Spears would forget about that performance.

“I think I was with N’SYNC when I performed for the first time,” she said during an interview with Elvis Duran and the Z Morning Zoo on Monday, Aug. 29 after Sunday night’s VMAs. “I think the whole setup was a classroom, and my four main dancers were in the front at their desk and I came out of my locker. But, you know what, I don’t remember at all. I have no recollection. I couldn’t tell you anything about it.”

Earlier this year, Timberlake confirmed to Rolling Stone that he is working on his new album. He last released his hit song “Can’t Stop The Feeling” from the upcoming Trolls soundtrack. Timberlake also took to Instagram to tease his collaborations with Little Big Town, Pharrell, and Timbaland.

Spears and Timberlake last collaborated on the track “What It’s Like To Be Me,” which was on Spears’ 2001 album, Britney. The two also performed at the 2001 Super Bowl Halftime Show with Aerosmith, Nelly, among others.

As for when Justin Timberlake’s sixth studio album will be out, fans may have to wait a little longer for a release date, according to Digital Spy.

“Sometime early next year, more than likely,” RCA Records Executive Vice President/GM Joe Riccitelli confirmed in May 2016. “He just really working on it now. When he’s ready, he’s ready. Justin does what he does, when he wants to do it.”
