Barney Frank Once Ate Pot Brownies

Barney Frank is an advocate for the legalization of marijuana and apparently he can speak about the drug from personal experience.

Frank, who is retiring from Congress, told CNN that he doesn’t smoke marijuana but admitted that he had tried a pot brownie in the past.

Frank said:

“No, I don’t … I smoke a cigar or two a day. I did have a brownie once. It made me sleepy.”

According to The Hill, Frank said that the effects of marijuana were pale in comparison to other illegal drugs.

Frank said:

“I think, frankly, it contributes a good deal to the sense of unfairness among young people who are told they shouldn’t do this because it’s got all these negative effects, but then see older people engaging in all kinds of things that probably have greater impact on people.”

Frank said that laws against marijuana deplete state funds and that police should stop targeting marijuana users.

Frank added:

“One of the best things we can do to reduce state expenditures in a way that does not hurt the quality of life is to stop going after people who use marijuana.”

Here’s a video of Barney Frank talking to Erin Burnett on CNN’s OutFront.

What do you think about Barney Frank’s view on marijuana? Should the drug be legalized, taxed, and regulated by the government?
