Sandusky Victim No. 1 To Write Book Detailing Abuse

Sandusky Victim No. 1, a Pennsylvania teenager who first brought charges of sexual abuse against Jerry Sandusky, is planning a tell-all book to be released later this fall.

The victim, who was a key government witness in the criminal case against the Penn State defensive coordinator, will reveal his identity on October 23, the day the book is scheduled to be release. He will appear in an interview on ABC, the New York Daily News reported.

Ballantine Bantam Dell said that the book, Silent No More: Victim #1’s Fight for Justice Against Jerry Sandusky, will go into detail about how Sandusky Victim No. 1 “survived years of abuse and secrecy, harassment and accusation, before reporting Sandusky’s actions to the authorities, and will offer a hopeful and inspiring message for victims of abuse.”

Sandusky Victim No. 1’s book was co-written by the teen’s mother and a psychologist. He was first approached by Sandusky at a summer camp sponsored by Second Mile, Sandusky’s charity for underprivileged children.

Physical contact began when Sandusky put his hand on the boy’s leg, Victim No. 1 said. He then began spending nights at Sandusky’s home in State College, about 30 miles from his home in Lock Haven. Those overnight visits led to kissing and back rubbing, which continued until Sandusky Victim No. 1 was in his early teens.

The touching progressed to oral sex, Victim No. 1 testified, sobbing. Sandusky eventually told him: “It’s your turn.”

“I don’t how to explain it, I froze,” Sandusky Victim No. 1 said. “My mind is telling me to move but I couldn’t do it, I couldn’t move.”

He told jurors that the abuse led to worsening behavior. Once a well-behaved child, he regressed to fights with relatives and bed wetting, and his grades also declined.

Sandusky Victim No. 1’s pay for the book was not disclosed, The Associated Press reported. Publisher Ballantine, an imprint of Random House Inc., noted that it plans to make a donation to a charity for victims of child abuse.
