Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez Song Hints Hit High Note: Will DJ Snake’s ‘Love’ Yield Music Mashup?

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have produced a never-ending love story for their fans, spiced up with a dash of heartbreak and spoonful of drama. Now, after their on-again-off-again romantic relationship took a no-one-saw-that-coming twist thanks to their Instagram war of words, speculation that the two have a secret duet is hitting a high note.

The hints that Justin and Selena might be taking their Jelena relationship in a different direction in the form of a collaboration began prior to their social media battle. Gomez turned to Snapchat to post a video that, while it lasted a mere two seconds, caused fans to excitedly speculate that she was hinting at collaborating with Bieber, reported E! News.

In the clip, Selena giggled as she was heard crooning Justin’s highly heralded new song with DJ Snake, “Let Me Love You.”

Fans flocked to comment on the song, with many posting “Jelena” to reveal their hope for a future musical collaboration or mashup between Gomez and Bieber.

“Jelena forever,” vowed one fan.

The similarity to the clip that DJ Snake posted the week prior heated up the rumors.

In a tweet that he subsequently deleted, DJ Snake clarified that Gomez recorded her own version of the song rather than collaborating with Bieber. But will it be released or possibly used in a musical mashup, or will it remain in the vaults after the social media battle that just occurred?

For those who missed it (or want a recap), Justin had responded to a backlash of hate from his fans over his relationship with new gal pal Sofia Richie with a threat about possible consequences (which eventually included his deletion of his Instagram account), reported People.

Selena then shocked everyone by responding to Bieber.

“If you can’t handle the hate, then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol – It should be special between you two only,” she scolded.

“Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you and supported you before any one ever did.”

Justin responded by claiming that Gomez had used him to get the spotlight on her.

“It’s funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad. All love,” concluded Bieber.

Gomez subsequently apologized on Snapchat.

“What I said was selfish and pointless,” she confessed.

But new hope for a duet or mashup has blossomed following disappointment for fans who thought that Selena and Justin would be featured together on the original track of “Let Me Love You.” However, DJ Snake’s debut album, Encore, included that song with Bieber minus Gomez, causing sorrow for those who assumed from her initial Snapchat clip that “Let Me Love You” would be a Jelena duet, noted MTV News.

Now, Snake has rekindled the excitement by sharing a longer clip to Snapchat that, to many, resembles Selena’s version of the tune. Is he hinting that there’s another version with Gomez, indicating that it really was planned first as a duet with Justin? Is the music guru waiting until the fireworks over the Instagram war of words between Bieber and his former girlfriend flicker out?

As for the speculation about what all this means, fans have been waiting for a collaboration between Justin and Selena for a long time, pointed out Teen Vogue.

The rumors originally began in April that “Let Me Love You” would consist of a Bieber and Gomez duet even though no indications were seen in the clip in which Selena crooned.

It only took musical wizard DJ Snake’s six-second audio on Snapchat that resembles Gomez to cause all that speculation to soar to new heights, with some noting that when the musical snippets are combined, it seems as if Selena’s contribution could be woven into the mix with Bieber.

Will a remix or mashup happen? Fans are eagerly awaiting the answer.
