Nintendo NX Starting Lineup To Include Fan Favorites Pokemon, Mario, And Zelda

The Nintendo NX launch lineup is sure to get fans on board right from the start. The company has released that three of its top franchises, Pokémon, Mario, and Zelda, will come to the console within the first six months of release.

It is not surprising with the massive surge of Pokémon GO fans that Nintendo has decided that Pokémon should be in the major forefront of the releases for its newest console, Nintendo NX. Recently the Inquisitr has reported that Final Fantasy, another major fan favorite, by Square Enix will not have a Nintendo NX version, instead they plan to focus on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. With this major blow to console fans, Nintendo is trying to draw players in with some of their other favorites right from the start.

A lot of gamers have been weary of newer consoles, but hopefully Nintendo NX will be able to beat the slow start for console selling. The Wii U and the 3DS have both had slower starts, but time has managed to bring them into the market more securely. Nintendo is hoping that by creating a killer launch lineup, they will have more headway from the get go.

According to MCV, “Sources close to Nintendo have told MCV that the firm is determined that NX will not suffer the same slow start as either the Wii U or 3DS.”

The first game out of the gate for Nintendo NX will be The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which Polygon has reported to have a set release date of March, 2017. Zelda, which has always been a headliner for Nintendo, but hasn’t seen a new game since 2011. Breath of the Wild is set to hit shelves for the Wii U as well as the Nintendo console currently coded as NX. Being their release dates are the same, it is probably safe to assume that this will be the game sold alongside the new console.

Nintendo is breaking a trend and releasing their console in March instead of the usual November release date. Many have speculated that they are trying to perfect the system before releasing it to the public.

The Nintendo system is supposed to harken back to the older Nintendo consoles. Instead of having disks, like most new consoles have, this system will go back to the cartridge system. Hopefully players won’t have to blow on them to get them to work like the original Nintendo NES system.

Another feature of the new Nintendo NX system is that it will be adopting a hybrid system, being able to be used as a handheld or a home console. This hybrid system will include detachable controllers so players can use it on the go or plugged into a television. From an unconfirmed leak, the controllers will not resemble the Wii and Wii U controllers, but nothing official has been released.

With the development by Game Freak of the new Pokémon game to the platform, there is a good chance they will attempt to piggyback on the success and newfound love of Pokémon players. This will be the first series entry for Game Freak to be included in a home system, although they have made many handheld titles.

Currently there is no in-depth information about the newest Mario game. This may be due to Nintendo’s president, Tatsumi Kimishima, attempting to keep the main system under wraps as they create a “breadth of content” for their March, 2017, launch.

With more information expected to be released as early as September, we are sure to start getting our first looks at what the Nintendo NX will have to offer. Having a starting lineup that includes such major fan favorites as Zelda, Pokémon, and Mario are definitely good ways to start off the launch of a new system. Nintendo has stated they are trying to upgrade the smartphone gamers so we should expect a system that is conducive to casual gaming and hard-core gamers alike with the Nintendo NX lineup.
