NFL Rumors: Kansas City Chiefs Interested In Signing Nick Foles
Things in the NFL can change rather quickly. According to NBC Sports, the Kansas City Chiefs are now interested in signing Nick Foles. After initially being released by the Los Angeles Rams, the 27-year-old quarterback was not generating a lot of interest. However, teams are now starting to pursue him.
When Nick Foles was released by the Los Angeles Rams, everyone automatically linked him with the Dallas Cowboys. After all, the team failed to make the NFL Playoffs last season because none of their backup quarterbacks were able to competently replace Tony Romo, despite having some pretty good weapons on offense.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was quick to dismiss the rumors. He stated that he and his coaching staff were comfortable going into training camp with Tony Romo, Kellen Moore, and fourth-round NFL Draft pick Dak Prescott. Jones did not want to add another quarterback to the competition.

Things changed tremendously for the Dallas Cowboys this week when Kellen Moore went down with a serious injury. After being carted off the field, it was revealed that Moore had suffered a broken ankle. Surgery is required, and Moore is expected to miss approximately four months. That means that a new backup will be required.
Once Kellen Moore went down with his injury, the Dallas Cowboys changed their tone a bit. Executive vice president Stephen Jones stated that Nick Foles would be an excellent fit, as reported by Fox Sports. Dialogue between the two sides has apparently been started.
Thanks to having one of the best offensive line in the NFL and a very talented new running back in Ezekiel Elliott, the fourth overall pick in the draft, the Dallas Cowboys believe that they simply need a caretaker at the backup quarterback position. Nick Foles has struggled as of late, but he has shown in the past that he can be solid enough to start.
Without much depth behind Alex Smith, the Kansas City Chiefs may need to get into a bidding war with the Dallas Cowboys and other NFL teams that may potentially be interested in adding Nick Foles to the roster at this point in the offseason.
Aaron Murray, Kevin Hogan, and Tyler Bray are the other three quarterbacks on the Kansas City Chiefs roster aside from Alex Smith, who should win the starting position rather easily. Between Murray, Hogan, and Bray, there are zero starts in the regular season, which might make Chiefs head coach Andy Reid a bit nervous.
At the very least, Nick Foles would provide the Kansas City Chiefs with someone that has NFL experience on the sidelines. At the very most, Foles can beat out Alex Smith, who is not exactly a franchise quarterback in the National Football League. Foles has shown flashes of potential of being a guy that can take over games.
With the NFL lacking in starting caliber quarterbacks, a lot of opportunities are going to arise that normally would not have been there years ago. Nick Foles has a chance to take advantage of that situation.
