Toya Wright’s Brothers, Rudy And Josh Johnson, Murdered — Shot Multiple Times In New Orleans

Toya Wright learned some tragic news about her own family just weeks after news broke that she is finally divorcing music executive Memphitz. In the early hours of Sunday morning, the Times-Picayune reports that Toya’s brothers, Rudy and Josh Johnson, were murdered and left in a car in New Orleans.

According to the New Orleans police department, two young men were found unresponsive in a car near Pauger and North Miro streets in the Seventh Ward. Both men were said to be shot multiple times and police reported that they were pronounced dead at the scene.

The New Orleans police department has not formally identified Rudy or Josh as the victims in the car shooting. However, members of Toya Wright’s family have said that the men are her two brothers. So far, there has been no motive reported, and the men were two of three shooting victims reported on Sunday night. There have also been no reported suspects or arrests related to the shooting deaths of Rudy and Josh Johnson. These two most recent deaths plus the third in New Orleans on Sunday mean that there were a total of 24 shooting deaths in the city just in the month of July.

According to Heavy, Wright learned of her brothers’ deaths right after taking the stage to perform in Baton Rouge. Toya reportedly “stormed off” the stage, visibly and understandably upset by the tragic news. Toya has not confirmed the news or posted anything to social media since learning of the New Orleans shooting. Posts to Instagram prior to the shooting deaths of Rudy and Josh showed Toya heading to the venue to perform in Baton Rouge.

Initial reports of the shooting death of Rudy and Josh Johnson were confirmed by one of his friends on Twitter. That report has since been deleted, according to Hollywood Take. Rudy Johnson is the father of a little girl who has been pictured on his Instagram. It also has been reported that he was expecting another child with his girlfriend. Prayers and well-wishes for the rest of the family have been posted steadily on his social media account since news spread that Wright’s little brother, Rudy, was one of the victims in the New Orleans shooting early Sunday morning.

Rudy Johnson’s girlfriend has reportedly posted about his death, according to Fameolous. In the post pictured above, the expecting mother wrote, “Lord I’m praying for strength for my child please!! Father what is wrong with this world.”

Even though the women are currently battling it out in a pretty bitter feud, even K. Michelle took a moment to send Toya her condolences. On Twitter, she wrote, “@ToyaWright I would DM u but we blocked each other long ago. I just received word of ur loss. Even though we’ve never met my heart hurts 4u.”

Toya Wright is a native of New Orleans and is the ex-wife of rapper Lil Wayne and the mother of his child, Reginae Carter. Toya has said in past interviews that she helped to raise her brothers. News of their murder has touched many, including her rival, K. Michelle. RIP Rudy and Josh Johnson and condolences to Toya Wright.
