‘The Big Bang Theory’ Casts Penny’s Mom, And You’ve Seen Her Play Kaley Cuoco’s Mom Before

The Big Bang Theory shared numerous spoilers at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, and one of those was the woman chosen as Penny’s mom. She will make an appearance in Season 10, and some fans will get a déjà vu moment.

Katey Sagal has been confirmed for the role, who has played many roles in the past. Most notably with The Big Bang Theory in mind was her role of Cate Hennessy in 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter . This was the mom of Kaley Cuoco’s character Bridget.

The two had a very believable mother-daughter relationship, and it is possible that TBBT producers had this in mind when making the casting decision. Fans will get a sense of déjà vu during some moments of the show, as 8 Simple Rules saw the two onscreen together for three years between 2002 and 2005.

Sagal has played many types of moms on TV. Sons of Anarchy fans will remember her as a strong, supportive mother and wife. Married With Children lovers will remember her as an undomesticated fashion-lover. This is one actress who can take on any role she is given and make it her own.

Segal will play Susan, who is stressed from her life with Randall, Penny’s ex-convict brother. Randall will make an appearance during The Big Bang Theory Season 10, and will be played by Jack McBrayer, who is best known for his role on 30 Rock . Keith Carradine will reprise his role as Penny’s dad, who has already been seen numerous times on the show.

CBS has hinted that the wedding for Penny and Leonard will happen during the Season 10 premiere. The couple agreed to having another wedding at the end of last season, after Leonard’s mother expressed how disappointed and hurt she was that she hadn’t been able to witness the two get married. She was even more upset when she learned that it was all streamed live on the internet for their friends to watch, but she didn’t get to see it.

It looks like relationships will be tested somewhat in what could be the final season of TBBT . There are rumors that Sheldon and Leonard will become step-brothers after Sheldon’s mom and Leonard’s dad become very close. The two roommates looked very uncomfortable at the idea of their parents having a relationship.

During the panel at SDCC 2016, fans asked about Penny’s career decisions, Yibada reports. In The Big Bang Theory Season 9, she admitted to Leonard that she is unhappy in her job but will do the adult thing and stick with it. She is making enough money to clear her debts and needs to start being responsible. The writers are still working out her future, but right now it appears that she will remain unhappy but making the money that the couple needs.

The producers were also asked about the end game, which they admitted they have thought about but not finalized yet. They say it is “too soon” to consider The Big Bang Theory ‘s end game, hinting that Season 10 may not quite be the end. It is CBS’ most popular comedy program, so it is possible that the network will keep the show going.

Fans have been looking forward to seeing Penny’s family for the last 10 years, only having been introduced to her father. Penny regularly talks about the life she left behind, and now fans will get the chance to see her mother. They’ll be forgiven for the déjà vu feeling when it comes to seeing Sagal and Cuoco opposite each other. Will it feel like the future Cate and Bridget Hennessy could have had?
