Lady Gaga Split: Engagement To Taylor Kinney Called Off, Couple Splits After 5 Years

Lady Gaga has split from her beau, Taylor Kinney. The Bad Romance singer and the Chicago Fire star have parted ways after five years, according to TMZ. The couple was engaged to be married and many believed that a 2016 wedding was on the horizon, but sources say that Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney broke things off earlier this month.

“Gaga and Kinney have been noticeably absent from each other’s lives lately… at events and on social media. Gaga was seen without her engagement ring last week in Malibu — the same day Taylor celebrated his 35th birthday,” reports TMZ, adding that Lady Gaga is in Cabo on vacation — without her heart-shaped engagement ring.

Lady Gaga’s split from Taylor Kinney comes 17 months after the couple’s engagement. Kinney popped the question on Valentine’s Day 2015, presenting Gaga with an impressive sparkling bauble.

“I really can’t imagine being with anyone other than who I’m with right now. He is the right guy. I have that feeling. I just know it,” Lady Gaga told Howard Stern before the proposal.

It’s unknown if Lady Gaga wanted to split, if it was Taylor Kinney’s doing, or if the decision was mutual. According to People Magazine, the couple was asked about their upcoming wedding earlier this year and the two stayed quiet, saying it was going to be a “surprise.” It definitely seemed as though the couple wanted to get married, and both of them seemed really into each other during interviews and on red carpets — but something went wrong over the last few months that completely changed their relationship. Details on what may have gone wrong haven’t become available.

Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney’s split is shocking to many of their fans. The love that these two had for one another seemed unmatched. According to PopSugar, the two have said a lot of very sweet things about each other and about their relationship. Really, nothing said up until this point has suggested a split before a wedding.

“I have a bunch of brothers, I grew up with a big family, [and] I want that… I want a brood. I’d like to have a little soccer team and a mini van and all that stuff,” Kinney said about having children with Gaga. Many believed that Gaga would be announcing a pregnancy sometime over the course of the next year.

“I would love doing something with her. I met working with her. I don’t know that we’ve done anything workwise since. I wouldn’t put that out of the realm of possibilities,” he said about working with his bride-to-be (at the time).

“The way that it really works is that we trust each other. He’s on his journey and I’m on mine and we’re gypsies. And then when we’re together, we’re really in love and that’s it,” Lady Gaga said about how their relationship works. Fans thought that their personalities complimented one another and that their relationship was going to work because of that fact.

“Well, he’s a hidden weirdo. He is extremely strange, actually, and we complement each other’s weirdness,” Gaga has also said. It’s just another reason that fans thought Gaga and Kinney were meant to be.

Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney had two French bulldogs together, Koji and Miss Asia Kinney. It is unknown which party will keep the pups.

Neither Gaga nor Kinney have released a statement confirming this news. It is presumed that the two will mention something about their split, if not by way of a rep, there could be something popping up on social media sometime soon.
