Drake’s ‘One Dance’ Video Shot In South Africa, Here’s Behind The Scenes

Drake’s South Africa visit went unnoticed for three days? Well, at least, the “One Dance” artist did make time for the youth.

When it comes to Drake, South Africa is a huge supportive demographic.

According to Google Trends’ “Worldwide” data, the country ranks in the top five nations that consistently search for Drake’s music.

Actually, in the top ten countries worldwide, eight African countries take those top spots, beating out Canada and the United States:

  1. Mozambique
  2. South Africa
  3. Jamaica
  4. Zambia
  5. Trinidad & Tobago
  6. Nigeria
  7. Zimbabwe
  8. Ghana
  9. Angola
  10. Tanzania

Drake’s South Africa trip might prove to make “One Dance” a greater, more popular song in the aforementioned African country as it was already an incredible African favorite.

According to Times Live, once word got around South Africa about Drake’s visit, the nation’s fans went crazy. Maybe that’s why he attempted to keep his presence a secret?

Drake’s South Africa arrival was noticed at Lanseria International Airport. In the video below, you can hear one fan’s shocked voice when he spots Drizzy hurrying to his vehicle.

However, as mentioned, Drake was in the country for business purposes, as can be seen below.

This also explains why he wasn’t at BET Awards 2016 to receive his winner’s recognition. The Inquisitr previously reported on Drake’s song and video nominations and wins.

Well, at least, the “One Dance” video shoot was secretive until completion.

As a side note, you probably know — if you’ve heard Drake’s song — that it features Nigerian star Wizkid.

Well, it’s rumored that he could appear in the “One Dance” video as well.

For now, there isn’t any report detailing Drake’s “One Dance” video’s release date. However, Capital Xtra mentions that several people suspect that it will drop soon.

Nevertheless, after the video shoot was over for Drake, South Africa greeted him with kindness and gratitude. Drake was welcomed by Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe and Deputy Minister Buti Manamela.

Drizzy got a chance to be an encouragement outside of the world of music, as well.

As a point, Deputy Minister Manamela stated that Drake’s South Africa discussion was free of charge.

“Government did not pay him anything,” Manamela expressed, as reported by All Africa.

“We are quite grateful to him and his team to come and be part of this,” the deputy minister continued. “This is one of the most successful artists in the world; he is an inspiration to many young South Africans.”

Here’s the kicker.

“What is more important is that he is committing on a long standing partnership with our country,” Manamela concluded.

As you can see from the video at the top of the page, Drake spoke with South African youth about their dreams and goals.

He mentioned that it’s great to be successful for family and friends while always keeping them in your considerations.

However, the point of Drake’s South Africa speech was that no matter your location, you can be successful. You just have to find your niché.

As Drizzy spoke with the Johannesburg’s young people at the Nelson Mandela Center of Memory, he had much to say to the young people who flocked to hear him.

“I encourage you to do everything you can to make your future as bright as you possibly can. We are all young; we all have some end goal. Take it from me. I sat around for a lot of days thinking about my family, my loved ones trying to make the place where I come from proud of me… if I can do it anyone in this room can do it.”

All in all, it’s great that Drake’s South Africa speech was focused on rejuvenating hope for his fans. Surely, Drake’s discussion influenced others to do better and strive for the best.

Like Drake, South Africa is forever changing and evolving. If you read some of the tweets and Instagram photo captions about Drake’s visit, you’ll see that he did actually have an impact on the country’s young minds.
