Backstreet’s Back: Backstreet Boys Releasing New Music In August

The Backstreet Boys are on a roll! The boyband was a big hit in the 90s, and it seems that they’re not ready to stop now.

After being absent in the music scene for several years, the Backstreet Boys performed at the 2016 Miss USA Pageant held just weeks ago. The boys performed some of their top hits, including “As Long As You Love Me” and “I Want It That Way.” Check out a video of their performance below.

In April, Nick Carter confirmed to Entertainment Online that the Backstreet Boys already signed a deal consisting of nine shows in Las Vegas, which could eventually turn into a long-term residency. All five of them (Nick Carter, A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson, and Howie D.) are in on the deal.

“If it does really well, then I think that’ll open that door and then in the future we’ll do it. So that’s definitely going to happen but we’re going to do a trial run first.”

Entertainment Online also got a chance to chat with Kevin Richardson, who shared his feelings about a possible Backstreet Boys residency in Las Vegas. He revealed that he asked Britney Spears how her residency is going for her and found out that Britney is enjoying time with her family while doing shows in Las Vegas. Britney Spears started her two-year Las Vegas residency in 2013, and because of the success of her shows, her residency was extended up to 2017.

“It seemed really convenient for the family! A Vegas residency, now that we’re all fathers, could be very convenient for us… We don’t have to travel so much.”

Kevin Richardson also teased that before that happens, the Backstreet Boys will be recording a new album first. Back then, there were no hints as to when the album will drop, but now, Brian Littrell hinted that the album would be out sooner than Backstreet Boys fans as expected. As reported by EW, Brian took to Instagram to tease fans about their upcoming album, which he said would be released in late August.

In addition, Brian teased that the Backstreet Boys are doing something that they have never done before, even sharing the initials FGL.

Although Brian didn’t elaborate further, fans of the Backstreet Boys quickly came to the conclusion that the boys are working on something with the country duo, Florida Georgia Line. As Sounds Like Nashville notes, a collaboration is a big possibility as Florida Georgia Line will be releasing a new album on August 26, which is about the same time Brian Littrell said the Backstreet Boys’ new album will be released.

A few hours after Brian posted the Instagram picture, Nick Carter and Howie D. both confirmed the Florida Georgia Line/Backstreet Boys collaboration through their Instagram accounts.

There is no hint on what genre of music the Backstreet Boys and the Florida Georgia Line will come up with, but it seems that both groups are fans of each other. In a Florida Georgia Line concert, the duo praised the Backstreet Boys and even covered their song “Everybody.” Watch the video below.

The Backstreet Boys’ album, which will be released in August, is their seventh studio album in the United States, following their 2013 album, In a World Like This. Are you excited to hear the new album from the Backstreet Boys? Share your thoughts below.
