‘WWE Monday Night RAW’ Results: Roman Reigns Suspension Addressed, Match Added to ‘Battleground’

John Cena appeared at the beginning, middle, and end of WWE RAW this week, proving that Cena truly is the company man while Roman Reigns is out on suspension. While Cena made it clear that he’s still interested in being the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, AJ Styles is still bragging about his win over the leader of the Cenation at WWE Money in the Bank last week. With Seth Rollins openly talking about the Roman Reigns suspension and how it would impact his match against Dean Ambrose at WWE Battleground, Cena and Styles were part of the title hunt, if only for one night.

Ultimately, John Cena would face Seth Rollins while AJ Styles faced Dean Ambrose, and the Cena/Bullet Club feud continued to build towards another match at Battleground. The status of the Triple Threat Match main event was put in limbo, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were guests on The Highlight Reel, and The Miz made his return to WWE television with an impromptu title match against a mystery opponent. Corporate Kane continued to make a case for himself as the SmackDown General Manager after the WWE Draft, and The New Day continued to provoke The Wyatt Family.

The full results for this week’s WWE Monday Night RAW and the updated match-list for the WWE Battleground 2016 card are below. This week’s episode of WWE RAW was taped at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

WWE Monday Night RAW results

The following includes all of the matches and their results from WWE RAW on June 27.

  • Sasha Banks and Paige defeated Charlotte and Dana Brooke when Banks made Brooke tap out to the Bank Statement.
  • Titus O’Neil defeated Rusev by count out. This gives Titus a win over the champ, justifying another title shot at WWE Battleground.
  • Seth Rollins defeated John Cena by pinfall after he hit the Pedigree. AJ Styles and The Club provided a distraction which set up the finish. If John Cena had won the match, he would have been added to the Battleground main event.
  • Enzo Amore and Big Cass defeated enhancement talent by pinfall in a matter of seconds after they hit the Bada Boom Shakalaka. Post-match, the Social Outcasts interrupted Big Cass on the mic. Since the WWE Tag Team Champions are currently working a program with The Wyatt Family, it appears Enzo and Big Cass will work a quick program with the Social Outcasts.
  • Becky Lynch vs. Summer Rae never happened as Becky attacked Natalya (who was set to provide guest commentary for the match) before the bell ever rang.
  • Kane defeated The Miz by count out in a WWE Intercontinental Championship Match after Maryse faked an injury and Miz carried her backstage.
  • Apollo Crews and Cesaro defeated Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio by pinfall after Crews hit Sheamus with the Spinning Sit-out Powerbomb. Del Rio had already deserted his former League of Nations brother before the match ended.
  • Dean Ambrose defeated AJ Styles by pinfall after hitting Dirty Deeds. John Cena came to ringside to attack The Club, who were trying to assist Styles in any way that they could. If AJ Styles had won the match, he would have been inserted into the main event of WWE Battleground.

Other updates and storyline progressions.

  • Seth Rollins opened Monday Night RAW with an in-ring segment. He talked about Roman Reigns being suspended for 30 days and suggested that Reigns should be removed from the Triple Threat Match at Battleground. This brought out Dean Ambrose who said that he wanted the match to remain a Triple Threat Match. AJ Styles came out and said that he should replace Roman Reigns in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match at Battleground. Dean Ambrose suggested they make it a Fatal 4-Way. Then John Cena came to the ring and suggested he get involved and make it a Fatal 5-Way. Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley came to the ring and set up matches that would provide both Cena and Styles the opportunity to insert themselves into the Battleground main event.
  • Backstage, Corporate Kane makes an appeal to Stephanie to be considered for the SmackDown General Manager role. He also suggests that the recently-returned Miz defend the WWE Intercontinental Championship in a match on RAW, to which Stephanie agreed.

  • In another “Make Darren Young Great Again” segment, Bob Backlund and Young discuss goals and eras.
  • They showed clips of WWE and NXT Superstars working out alongside some of the Special Olympics athletes at the Performance Center in Orlando. Big Show and Renee Young talked with the President of the Special Olympics and several athletes at the top of the ramp, promoting Living Unified.
  • Chris Jericho hosted another edition of The Highlight Reel, with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn as guests. The two set up a match for Battleground 2016.
  • The New Day came out in gear mocking The Wyatt Family. Bray and company came out and questioned whether Xavier Woods really believed in the “Power of Positivity” that The New Day is constantly preaching about.
  • After the final match, all three members of The Club attacked John Cena on the ramp, while Seth Rollins (who had been providing guest commentary) took out Dean Ambrose in the ring.
