Candace Cameron Bure And Husband Valeri Bure Celebrate 20 Years Together With Throwback Wedding Photo

A celebrity couple that can celebrate several years of marriage without turmoil is a rare feat in Hollywood. Fuller House star Candace Cameron Bure and husband Valeri Bure are among the couples that reached a major milestone in their relationship by celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary on June 22.

The actress decided to mark the occasion on her Instagram page by posting a black and white photo of her and Bure on their wedding day. The actress added the simple caption, “20 years. Happy Anniversary to us. #anniversary #happyanniversary.”

Cameron Bure and her retired hockey player husband first met at a charity hockey game through her former Full House co-star Dave Coulier, a lifelong hockey fan. The couple was married in 1996, a year after Full House ended its eight-season run on ABC.

The View co-host had their first child, Natasha, in 1998; sons Lev and Maksim followed in 2000 and 2002, respectively. After all her kids were born, Cameron Bure decided to take a self-imposed break from acting to raise her family.

It was also during her hiatus from acting that Cameron Bure became a devout Christian, taking a cue from her older brother, former Growing Pains star Kirk Cameron. The actress has stated many times that her Christian faith helps keep her marriage solid.

Cameron Bure made headlines in January 2014 when she wrote in her second book, Balancing It All: My Story of Juggling Priorities and Purpose that being the submissive in her marriage helps keep the peace in her family, as reported by ABC News.

“I quickly learned that I had to find a way of honoring his take-charge personality and not get frustrated about his desire to have the final decision on just about everything. I am not a passive person, but I chose to fall into a more submissive role in our relationship because I wanted to do everything in my power to make my marriage and family work.”

Critics weren’t kind to her revelation, but Cameron Bure stood her ground that having her husband take the lead in their marriage and making final decisions helped make them come closer over the years.

“We work together, but I don’t want to dig my heels in and I have no aspirations to be the ruler of my family. We are two equal people, but I love my husband and I want him to lead.”

Other Candace Cameron Bure’s books include Reshaping It All: Motivation for Physical and Spiritual Fitness, published in January 2011, and Dancing Through Life: Steps of Courage and Conviction, published in August 2015. Cameron Bure told Yahoo Style in September 2015 that her last book had more personal information than the previous two books.

Candace Cameron Bure returned to acting in 2007 when she guest-starred on That’s So Raven. She did a few made-for-TV movies like Moonlight & Mistletoe, Truth Be Told, and The Heart of Christmas before she landed a role as Summer Van Horne on the TV series, Make It Or Break It on the ABC Family Channel in 2009.

Cameron Bure returned to the show that made her famous when Full House became the reboot series, Fuller House. The first season streamed on Netflix in February, and the cast is now filming the second season of Fuller House.

Fuller House did receive a few nominations for this year’s Teen Choice Awards. Cameron Bure received a nomination for Choice TV Actress, and she also received a nomination for Choice TV Chemistry with her fellow co-stars, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber.

Candace Cameron Bure has been promoting her healthy lifestyle lately, even keeping a journal on what she eats as she travels from New York City to film The View and back to Los Angeles where her family resides. The actress suffered from bulimia during her 20s, but now she promotes eating healthy and maintaining an exercise regimen to keep up with her busy schedule.
