Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have reportedly split after about seven months of dating.
According to a new report, the model and singer have been going through “rough patches” in recent weeks, and although there is a possibility that they could get back together in the near future, they are said to be split up at the moment.
“During her birthday they were fighting,” an insider told E! News on June 2, adding that the former couple was on the rocks at that point and have “broken up and got back together a few times.”
Gigi Hadid celebrated her birthday in April, and a short time later, she and Zayn Malik made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2016 Met Gala in early May.

“[Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik] did break up, but they can likely get back together tomorrow,” another source added. “It’s all very unclear what’s going on between them now. They been having some issues lately that involved communication and getting along.”
“[Gigi Hadid] is really sad about this, though, and in a way would like to work it out. It’s more about that constant contact with Zayn that she misses and they did get very close,” the source added.
Just over a week ago, Gigi Hadid shared a photo of herself and Malik on Instagram and told fans she was missing the former One Direction star. Then, after their breakup was announced, Gigi Hadid posted a meme on Snapchat, which read , “I know it’s obvious but I love you.”
Rumors of a romance between Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik first began last October when they were seen together after the American Music Awards.
“Gigi and Zayn couldn’t keep their hands off each other,” a source told E! News at the time.
Then, in January, the rumors of Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik’s relationship were confirmed.

In late January, Malik released the music video for his debut single since leaving One Direction, “Pillowtalk,” and in the video, he was seen kissing Gigi Hadid.
“That was cool. It was something different,” Malik explained to Zach Sang & the Gang of starring in the music video alongside his girlfriend. “We enjoyed it. It was fun.”
“[Gigi Hadid] was so excited when Zayn asked her to be in his music video,” a source told E! News of the couple’s interaction on set. “They both acted very professional on set, but it was very obvious that they were in love. They couldn’t stop flirting with each other.”
Just last month, Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik appeared to be going strong when the 21-year-old model was seen rocking a t-shirt with the message, “lol ur not Zayn Malik,” during Drake’s Saturday Night Live after-party in New York City.
“Thas ma girl,” Malik tweeted with a picture of Gigi Hadid at the party.
Gigi Hadid’s relationship with Malik began just a short time after she split from Joe Jonas, whom he began dating after splitting from Cody Simpson. And due to the quick move to Malik, Gigi Hadid received backlash online.
“[Practice] how to walk properly instead of having a new bf every 2 weeks,” a critic wrote in a message to Gigi Hadid at the time.
“I’ve dated 3 guys in 3 yrs, hun. My walk can always get better; I hope the unrelated bitterness in ur heart can too,” Gigi Hadid fired back .
