Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris (real name Adam Miles) have broken up, and it came as a shock to most of their fans. Many people definitely thought the young couple would make it, since they seemed so much in love. So, in memory of young love lost, here’s a brief look back at their all too brief relationship.
The Mirror reports that Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris were introduced by mutual friend, Elie Goulding at a Brit Awards after-party in 2015.
“How did I set up Taylor and Calvin? It just kind of happened,” Goulding said in an interview about playing matchmaker to Harris and Swift. “They’re both good people, both dear friends. I thought it might work – and it did.”
“Calvin is a really great mate and he’s so fantastic, and Taylor is such a cool person who I love. I thought. ‘They’re both really awesome and both really tall, they’ll brilliant together’.”
And they definitely seemed to be “brilliant together” for quite some time. According to The Mirror , they became exclusive about a month after they met. They became Instagram-official when Calvin Harris posted a picture of Taylor’s cats on his page.
Although they were a relatively low-key couple, soon there were pictures of them spending lots of time together.
The Mirror notes that Taylor Swift was seen mouthing “I love you” to Calvin Harris on stage at her concert in Los Angeles last year. There were even claims that the pair spent Christmas 2015 together in Beverly Hills. There were also rumors that Harris was searching for wedding rings.
A September 2015 Hollywood Life article reported that the DJ and producer was planning an elaborate wedding proposal within the month.
The Hollywood Life article also reported that the Calvin and Taylor seemed very much in love, even though their schedules were very hectic at the time.
“Taylor and Calvin have been super busy with their schedules so they haven’t been able to spend much time together physically,” an insider reportedly told Hollywood Life . “But they still talk and text every day. They have a sexy Skype session whenever they can to keep their relationship exciting.”
So, what went wrong?
E! Online reports that at some point, the romance drained out of the Calvin Harris Taylor Swift relationship.
“Adam really liked Taylor, she was not the type of girl he ever dates and he liked that,” a source told E! News . “He liked how innocent Taylor was and that she had a good caring heart. Taylor’s heart was more in it than he was. He started to lose interest over the past few months, but really tried to not just break up.”
“They were just not very compatible in different areas in their relationship. The touring and traveling didn’t help. It seemed like they were more friends than lovers,” the insider continued.
E! Online’s source was also quick to dispel any rumors that infidelity had caused the breakup .
“Taylor and Adam had very different group of friends,” the source added, before insisting that Calvin Harris did not cheat on Taylor Swift.
“There were no other women involved with Adam. He did not cheat on her at all. Just not a good match.” E! Online says that another source also confirmed that there was no cheating by Swift or Harris.
“There was no drama.” the source said.
Although there was no drama, it looks like Calvin was the one who ended things and that Taylor was more into the relationship than he was.
“Taylor and Adam had no big blowout fight, but the romance just was not there anymore for them. Adam is the one that ended it,” the source said. “It was all done in a very mature fashion. Taylor is pretty upset but they are still in communication.”
Neither Calvin Harris or Taylor Swift have spoken out about the breakup which comes about a week since the “We Found Love” producer survived a major car crash that could have killed him.
