Gwen Stefani Thanks Blake Shelton For Inspiring ‘Misery,’ Wears Kinky Boots While Telling Him He’s ‘In So Much Trouble’

Gwen Stefani’s “Misery” music video fashion show is getting tons of positive buzz, but it wouldn’t exist without Blake Shelton. Blake doesn’t appear alongside Gwen in the video, but he did inspire the lyrics that Gwen sings while she shows off multiple stylish outfits.

On Tuesday, Blake helped Gwen promote “Misery” by tweeting the music video to his 17.2 million Twitter followers.

“It’s here!!!!!! @gwenstefani “misery” video!!!” Blake wrote.

Gwen Stefani responded to her boyfriend by thanking him for being her music muse.

As Entertainment Weekly reports, Gwen has already revealed that “Misery” is about her relationship with Blake Shelton. Gwen and Blake seem like they couldn’t be happier, so it should come as no surprise that the song isn’t as much about misery as it is about longing. Gwen sings about how frustrating it is for her to wait for the new man in her life to come see her.

“Put me out of my misery / Hurry up, come see me / Enough, enough of this suffering,” Gwen begs her cowboy boyfriend.

She also tells him that he’s “like drugs” to her.

Gwen and Blake were both working on new albums at the beginning of their seven-month relationship, so their busy schedules likely made it hard for them to spend as much time together as they wanted to. However, making the effort to balance work and a new relationship paid off for the pair.

As Rolling Stone reports, Gwen’s new album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like, became her first solo album to top the Billboard chart. The record is loaded with songs about Blake, and he returned the favor by including a few tunes about Gwen on his own new album, If I’m Honest. As Rare Country reports, it just debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart.

While Gwen Stefani obviously loves and appreciates Blake, she decided against casting him or a stand-in for him in the “Misery” music video. Instead, the stylish singer opted to make it all about the fashion; it’s like watching a live-action photo shoot for a style magazine with multiple costume and set changes.

Most of the video is set in an abandoned building, and Gwen Stefani switches her looks up as she explores different rooms. Us Weekly compares the futuristic Statue of Liberty headpiece that Gwen rocks in the first scene to one of the crowns that Charlize Theron’s evil queen character wears in Snow White and the Huntsman.

Gwen rocks a floral crown in another scene set in an elevator, but her headwear can’t compare to her sexy footwear. According to Footwear News, the thigh-high cage boots she wears in the scene below are designed by Sophia Webster, and the style is called the Delphine. While Gwen Stefani struts around in the kinky boots and a black-and-white leotard, she sings about how Blake Shelton “is in so much trouble.”

Gwen Stefani meets a handsome horse in one scene, and the majestic creature’s presence in the video could be a nod to Blake Shelton. As Entertainment Tonight reports, Blake gifted Gwen with a horse named Halo back in January. You can see Gwen’s equine friend and all of her high-fashion looks in the full “Misery” music video below. Gwen also shows off a pretty impressive skill: riding a bike in high heels.

“Misery” was directed by Gwen’s longtime friend and collaborator, Sophie Muller. According to Gwen, the two have known each other so long that they recently bought matching rings for their 20th anniversary.

Gwen Stefani and Sophie Muller’s latest partnership is paying off in a big way; “Misery” just knocked Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling” off of the No. 1 spot on the iTunes Music Videos Chart. And speaking of Justin Timberlake, the Inquisitr previously reported that Justin wrote a song for Gwen that will be featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming Trolls movie. Both singers voice characters in the animated movie.

Are you happy that Gwen Stefani decided to turn the “Misery” music video into a fashion show, or are you disappointed that Blake Shelton doesn’t appear in it? Sound off below!
