Johnny Depp’s Net Worth: How Much Will Amber Heard Take In The Divorce?

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are getting a divorce, and now lots of people are wondering just how much of Captain Jack Sparrow’s loot Amber will sail away with.

E! Online reports that Amber filed for divorce on Sunday, and she has asked the court for financial support from Depp. The two actors had been married for just 15 months. According to E! Online, Depp filed a counter petition wherein he requests that the court waive its ability to grant spousal support for Heard.

TMZ reports that Amber and Depp did not sign a prenuptial agreement. While the 30-year-old Heard has had a relatively successful acting and modelling career, Depp has starred in some of the highest grossing films of all time. Late last year, Forbes reported that Depp made $30 million in 2015 alone and named him Hollywood’s most overpaid actor. As E! Online notes, his films have grossed around $8 billion in total. He also owns lots of high-end real estate like the 45 acre island in the Bahamas where he and Amber had their wedding reception. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Johnny Depp’s net worth clocks in around $400 million.

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp are getting divorced in California which is a “fifty-fifty” state, Entertainment Tonight reports. This means that, when a couple divorces, the judge splits the couple’s joint assets in half. Each individual still retains full ownership of inherited and premarital assets.

The divorce from Heard will bring Johnny Depp’s second marriage to an end. As Entertainment Tonight notes, the 52-year-old Pirates Of The Caribbean star split up with his first wife before he made it big in Hollywood. Depp was then in a longterm relationship with French singer Vanessa Paradis, and they had two children together, 13-year-old Jack and 16-year-old Lily-Rose.

As Vanity Fair reports, it looks like Johnny Depp just wants all this divorce drama to be over and done with at this point.

“Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life,” a representative from Depp’s camp said on Thursday. “Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”

This is a far cry from how lovingly Depp spoke of Amber Heard to E! Online only last year.

“We connect on a lot of levels but the first things that really got me was she’s an aficionado of the blues,” the actor said. “I would play a song, some old obscure blues song, and she knew what it was.”

“She’s very, very literate,” he continued. “She’s a voracious reader, as I have been, so we connected on that as well, and she’s kind of brilliant and beautiful.”

Last year, Elle asked Amber Heard what it was like to transition from dating Johnny Depp to being married to him.

“Nothing is a dramatic change. We’ve been together for a long time now, so it’s been a fairly organic process… I have a fiercely independent spirit.”

“The thing that really scares me is the potential of losing my freedom,” Heard continued. “I never want for my life to lose the ability to transverse the world, with freedom and ease.”

Amber cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce, and TMZ reports that a feud between her and Depp’s family could have influenced her decision. According to TMZ, Johnny Depp’s teenage children, his sisters, and his mom hated Amber and made sure she was aware of it. Johnny Depp’s mother died three days before Amber Heard filed for divorce.
