Charlize Theron and Sean Penn showed some PDA at the Cannes Film Festival when they reunited in the South of France on Friday.
People reports that the former couple had a “frosty” encounter earlier in the day, but later made up for it when they were spotted in a “friendly embrace.” The pair appeared at the Cannes premiere of their film, The Last Face .
Charlize and Sean were also photographed giving each other a kiss on the cheek after walking the red carpet.

Charlize posed next to Sean’s son, Hopper Jack, 22. When the whole cast gathered for a photo, the actress locked arms with Hopper.
Theron wore a tuxedo combination consisting of a white shirt beneath a super low neckline. Just Jared reveals that Charlize’s outfit is from the Dior Couture collection and that she wore Christian Louboutin shoes. The outfit was complemented with a diamond necklace and she had her hair slicked back. Hopper wore a navy blue suit with a black bow tie.
Penn’s daughter, Dylan, 25, was also present at the Cannes Film Festival event. She was in a strapless Armani Prive gown. The two smiled for photographers as they walked down the red carpet.
When the two attended a press event for the film Friday afternoon, a source told the magazine that Theron and Penn had “no contact” with each other.
“Not a thing. Really, like they’d never met,” the source said.
According to the report, Charlize Theron and Sean Penn didn’t pay direct attention to one another at press event.
“There was always someone in between them – at least one person,” the source added.

Theron and Penn were romantically involved for almost two years before their break up in June 2015.
In an interview that Charlize gave to WSJ , she said the media sensationalized their split to the point of falsehood.
“There is a need to sensationalize things,” Theron told the magazine. “When you leave a relationship there has to be some f*****g crazy story or some crazy drama. And the f*****g ghosting thing, like literally, I still don’t even know what it is.”
There were reports plastered everywhere that Charlize was purposely ignoring Sean’s texts and calls after last year’s Cannes festival.
“Charlize wasn’t responding to his calls and texts,” a source told Us Weekly at the time. “She just cut it off.”
“Sean and Charlize looked very happy together while at the Hotel Du Cap with no signs of tension or a breakup,” a second source told the magazine.
Hollywood Life wrote that Charlize Theron and Sean Penn split because they were on different wavelengths. An insider said Sean is very serious and Charlize wanted to escape the “intense atmosphere” she found herself in.
Charlize opened up in the WSJ magazine interview by stating that she wanted more kids and Sean was supportive of that. Fighting back tears, the actress said her publicist was probably going to get on her case for saying as much as she did. In the end, the interview didn’t appear to paint Charlize in a bad light or harm her career by any means.
Neither have seemed to pair up with another partner romantically since their split. Sean Penn is occasionally named in tabloid headlines for getting back together with ex-wife, Madonna . They were photographed holding hands at Penn’s Annual Help Haiti Home Gala, Radar Online reported back in January.
None of the reports were confirmed as true that they rekindled their romance.
