The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere will not air on AMC until fall 2016. However, everyone wants to know spoilers, especially after the cruel Season 6 finale cliffhanger. One question TWD fans have is if Rick Grimes will suffer another mental breakdown after Negan’s actions. Creator Robert Kirkman revealed the answer to that question.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr , Kirkman recently held an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit. Although the topic was supposed to be about his new show, Outcast , some couldn’t resist the urge to ask questions about The Walking Dead .
Through the seasons, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) has gone to great lengths to keep his family and friends safe. Walkers are not the only threat and sometimes they are not even the most dangerous. As TWD fans have seen over the years, in the zombie apocalypse, the living truly are more dangerous than the dead. With Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) arrival on the Season 6 finale, fans have to wonder if Rick will have another mental breakdown.
The main character in The Walking Dead has fallen apart before. After his wife, Lori Grimes (Sarah Wayne Callies), died in Season 3, Rick began hallucinating. He also started to rant and rave until his gun was taken away from him. It took awhile for Rick to deal with reality, but he eventually stabilized.
There was also the time Rick’s group encountered the Claimers. In a fight, Rick ended up ripping Joe’s (Jeff Kober) neck with his bare teeth. The other time Rick lost his head was in Alexandria, and that time, Michonne (Danai Gurira) had to literally knock him out.

In Season 6, Negan and his barbed wire baseball bat, Lucille, tracked down Rick’s group. He was not pleased that Rick’s group ambushed the Saviors. There was no explaining, no reasoning, and no making excuses. In Negan’s mind, someone had to pay the price. Although fans don’t know which TWD character was bashed in by Lucille, it is going to have a deep impact on the characters. How will Rick respond to one of his own getting bashed in by Lucille? Will it “totally break” the main character, as one Reddit user asked during the AMA ?
“I’d say that’s a fair assumption,” Kirkman replied to the question of Rick being totally broken. “The premiere episode of Season 7 is going to be hard on everyone… Rick especially.”
Rick possibly having a mental breakdown over what Negan did in the Season 6 finale gets a little more complicated. It isn’t just the fact that someone dies, but who. Cinema Blend speculated that in order for Rick Grimes to truly lose it, he would have to grieve the loss of someone he was close to. Even though he cares for nearly everyone in his group, there are some he is closer to.
The website wrote that the characters in the most danger are Carl (Chandler Riggs), Michonne, Glenn (Steven Yeun), and Maggie (Lauren Cohan). I would have to add Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) to that list. After fleeing the prison, Rick and Daryl crossed paths once again, and Rick called him “brother.”
