The Facts Of Life’s Lisa Whelchel To Compete On Survivor

If you were a child of the 80s, perhaps you remember Lisa Whelchel, the actress that played the spoiled rich Blair Warner on The Facts of Life. If you don’t, no worries, because it looks like fans of CBS’ survivor will be getting a boatload of Whelchel, as it was announced earlier this afternoon that she’s competing on the show.

Whelchel, who was a rising teen actress in her day on The Facts of Life, is now 49-years-old and is no longer acting, but a Christian author and a mother to three children. For those who think the residual checks for The Facts of Life have dried up, according to Lisa she’s just a huge fan of reality television.

Survivor, which is in its 25th season will feature Lisa Whelchel competing for the pot of gold alongside every day citizens. Another familiar face that will be competing for survival is retired MLB player Jeff Kent. In addition 2011’s Miss Delaware Katie Hanson will also be competing as well. As of right now there’s three additional slots that are open for returning Survivor contestants, who are expected to be announced on Wednesday.

This is the first time Survivor has featured a famous face or two in their line up. In the past they have shaken things up amongst the casts. One season saw the show crossing racial barriers and stirring up controversy by splitting the teams up by races.

Survivor Philippines will kick off its 25th season with a 90-minute special on Wednesday, September 19 on CBS.
