‘Real Housewives Of Dallas’ Ratings Drop, Bravo Ready To Cancel Their Latest Spin-Off?

Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise has enjoyed a lot of success over the years. In fact, the network tried to capitalize on this success by expanding the series to two new locations this year. However, the newest series, Real Housewives of Dallas, is only a few episodes in and fans are already starting to tune out in large numbers. Will RHOD make it to the end of Season 1?

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, network executives are worried about the low ratings. Although they had high hopes for the new series, it now appears as though the Real Housewives of Dallas might follow in the footsteps of the failed Real Housewives of Miami and Real Housewives of D.C.

“Bravo is not happy with the ratings on the show, as they began at a small number and have continued to drop week to week,” an inside source revealed. “There are definitely concerns if the numbers continue to drop.”

Of course, the biggest fear is that the series will be canceled before it gets through its first season. So far, the network has given no indication that it plans on cancelling the series, but the low ratings are not a good sign.

According to the Dallas Observer, the Real Housewives of Dallas premiere managed to draw around one million viewers. However, only 920,000 people tuned in for the second installment, while the third episode had 828,000 viewers.

Despite the low ratings, Bravo’s head of development, Lara Spotts, was hopeful that the show would attract a lot of fans. Just ahead of the premiere, Spotts shared their reasoning behind selecting Dallas as one of the new locations.

“We felt like we were very coastal. A lot of our shows were in New York and LA. We’d fished around in Miami a little bit, but our audience didn’t really connect with the people we found,” Spotts explained.

Apparently, Dallas had the right mix of personalities that was missing in places like D.C. and Miami.

“Dallas seemed like a really exciting and unexpected city to find Bravo-type personalities,” Spotts continued. “What that means is we look for people who obviously are larger than life, who typically don’t have a filter — they have a sophistication and sometimes even their own lexicon, their own way of speaking — and we found that in Dallas.”

Although Spotts was confident that the new series would last several seasons, fans have not reacted well. Why haven’t fans tuned in to watch Bravo’s newest Housewives franchise?

So far, the Real Housewives of Dallas has brought plenty of drama to the world of reality TV. According to E! Online, the majority of drama has centered on LeeAnne Locken and her ongoing feud with Brandi Redmond.

As fans will recall, Locken and Redmond butted heads over Redmond’s “poop hat” that she wore at a charity event. On her official blog on Bravo, Locken called out Redmond for initiating the fight that resulted in the show’s first major blowout.

“At some point, when MY story is finally revealed, everyone will understand why this is my instinct: to fight back,” Locken wrote. “Until then, yay! I’m the #BravoB**h!”

For her part, Redmond did not back down in the face of Locken’s comments. Instead, she refused to apologize for her actions and felt as though she was in the right.

“I try to teach my kids to be friends with everyone and never leave anyone out,” Redmond wrote in her Bravo blog. “So I called her a b**h and I meant it.”

While the drama is starting to escalate on the show, it is not clear if fans are interested enough to keep watching. If the ratings don’t improve soon, fans can expect an early exit.

The Real Housewives of Dallas continues Monday nights on Bravo.
