Solange Knowles loves to take a fashion risk, and the 2016 Met Gala was no exception. Following her pretty bizarre space age fan gown at the 2015 event, this year Solange opted for a very fashion forward canary yellow ensemble with thigh-high pleather stockings and perspex heels. Lady Gaga in Versace
Never one to shy away from making a fashion statement, Lady Gaga left her pants at home for her space ace metallic ensemble. Gaga’s Met look was made up of a cut-out blue corset bodysuit covered by a metallic silver jacket and what appeared to be leather underwear paired with what could be some of the hugest platforms to ever make their way down a red carpet.
Madonna in Givenchy
Madonna continued her fashion forward red carpet streak with yet another bizarre outfit at the 2016 Met Gala. Madonna walked the New York red carpet in this Givenchy ensemble, which featured a cut-out chest covered only by lace, a bandage style bodysuit, and thigh-high leather boots. The “Human Nature” singer also flashed her butt cheeks on the red carpet after revealing her fashion choice actually had no back.
Nicki Minaj made a serious fashion statement in her low-cut, sheer black gown. Nicki’s Met Gala ensemble featured a number of straps across the body that covered a completely sheer floor-length skirt, as well as elbow high sheer gloves. Kerry Washington in Prada
Kerry Washington had fans doing a double take with her Met Gala red carpet getup. The fashion forward Scandal star appeared to be channeling her inner Morticia Addams with her Met Gala look, which featured almost shoulder-high lace gloves, a plunging embellished black gown, and some serious eye makeup. Kanye West in Balmain
Kanye West, who coordinated in silver with wife Kim Kardashian, appeared to forget that the Met Gala is one of the most formal events in the fashion calendar. Rather than dressing things up in a tuxedo, West instead opted to attend the Met event in ripped blue jeans and a bedazzled denim jacket. Kanye also stayed with his blue theme with some interesting blue contact lenses. Selena Gomez in Louis Vuitton
While Selena Gomez is usually the Queen of the best dressed list, it was her choice of shoe for the 2016 Met Gala red carpet that left fans scratching their heads. Gomez’s look appeared to be formed of a black leather crop top placed over a long black and white print dress, which she then teamed with chunky black boots. Will.i.am
Former Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.i.am took things to a whole new level with his unique Met Gala accessory – a black visor. The musician hit the New York red carpet in a pretty bizarre bowler hat with a built-in visor alongside his all-black ensemble with white flowers making covering both sleeves. Zoe Kravitz in Valentino
While Zoe Kravitz opted to keep things simple with her strapless little black dress with a huge bow design on the back, it was her fashion accessories that had everyone talking. Kravitz opted to dress up her 2016 Met Gala red carpet look with a huge black lace face mask and furry heels. Taylor Swift in Louis Vuitton
Taylor Swift went full on grunge when the waled the Met Gala red carpet. Staying away from her usual cutesy fashion style, Swift styled her snakeskin and leather mini-dress with strappy knee-high heels and her newly bleach blonde bob that marked a huge fashion shift for the “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer. Lupita Nyong’o in Calvin Klein Collection
It wasn’t Lupita Nyong’o’s green gown that had everyone talking, but her sky-high hair. Nyong’o’s 2016 Met Gala look saw the actress step out with some seriously unique hair that appeared to be grouped into a series of balls atop Nyongo’s head.
