NFL Rumors: Houston Texans Drafting Will Fuller

NFL rumors have been swirling around Will Fuller. As one of the best wide receivers coming out of the college ranks, several teams are said to be interested in selecting him in this year’s NFL Draft. According to CBS Sports, one of the teams that are interested in Fuller will be the Houston Texans. They are looking to bring in someone who can go with DeAndre Hopkins. The two could possibly form of the one of the best receiving tandems in the league. That would also provide newly-acquired quarterback Brock Osweiler another weapon.

The Houston Texans have been making waves during the free agency period. They acquired a franchise quarterback in Brock Osweiler. He signed a four year contract worth $72 million. Some people might feel that the Texans overpaid to get him. That is a bit much because Osweiler has yet to start for more than one season. Last season, the former Arizona State Sun Devils star had a solid season for the Denver Broncos. He wasn’t spectacular, though. For $72 million, teams usually want spectacular.

The Houston Texans released Arian Foster. He was considered the franchise running back. The former Tennessee Volunteers star was released because of injuries the last few years. The last time Foster played a full season was 2012. He finished his Texans career with 6,472 yards and 54 rushing touchdowns, both franchise records. Another reason for the release was due to his high salary.

Last season, DeAndre Hopkins was the only star on the offensive side of the ball. He had a 1,000 yards and caught more than 10 touchdowns. The former Clemson Tigers star has been putting solid numbers since being drafted by the Houston Texans. Hopkins has played in every game his whole career. A durable wide receiver who can put up consistent numbers is hard to find in the NFL. The past two season, Hopkins had to play with nine different quarterbacks. Imagine what he can do with a solid quarterback like Brock Osweiler.

The Houston Texans not only signed Brock Osweiler, but they also picked up running back Lamar Miller from the Miami Dolphins. The team signed Miller to a four year, $26 million contract. Many people believe he has the same skills set as Arian Foster. Bill O’Brien believes that Miller might be the fastest running back to wear a Houston Texans uniform. Bringing a talent like Lamar will put less pressure on Osweiler to throw more.

Last season, the Houston Texans didn’t have much help at the wide receiver position. Nate Washington was the second best receiver on the team. He posted 658 yards on 47 receptions. Those were decent stats. Not great. Brian Hoyer spread the ball around last season. However, it would be nice to have someone to help Hopkins carry the load.

William Fuller could potentially be a great fit for the Houston Texans. His draft stock has risen due to his elite speed. Fuller has the ability to spread the field. Safeties would have to back off because he is a deep threat. He is also another threat on the short routes. He is more of a complete player than he’s given credit for. Fuller is one of the most dynamic players coming out of the college ranks.

The Houston Texans will need to find another offensive weapon in the upcoming NFL Draft. They could potentially find their guy if Will Fuller is still on the board. He has all the tools to be a game changer. That would add another weapon for newly acquired quarterback Brock Osweiler. The combination of Fuller and DeAndre Hopkins could potentially be one of the best duos in the National Football Association.
