McDonald’s recently cut its Angus Beef burger, but the company has already found a way to fill the meaty void. The restaurant announced today that it was adding 3 new quarter pounders to its menu.
According to the Chicago Tribune , the 3 new quarter pounders will make their debut this June. One of the new burgers will feature cheddar and a few strips of a thick apple wood smoked bacon.
Neil Golden, chief marketing officer of McDonald’s USA said: “We’ve had some feedback from our consumer that our bacon may not have been as high quality or met their expectations but we just in the process of rolling out a new bacon system wide. We feel like that bacon is a fabulous enhancement to many of our products.”
The Huffington Post reports that the 3 new quarter pounders will include a Habanero Ranch burger with hickory-smoked bacon; a Quarter Pounder Deluxe with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles; and a Quarter Pounder Bacon and Cheese with American cheese and hickory-smoked bacon.
McDonald’s spokeswoman Danya Proud said that this is the first time in 40 years that the restaurant has tinkered with its Quarter Pounder.
McDonald’s has made several changes to its menu recently. The company is dropping less popular items like the Chicken Selects, Angus Snack Wraps and the Fruit and Walnut salad, and has added items like the Egg White Delight McMuffin and now 3 new quarter pounders.
The restaurant is also toying with the idea of extending its breakfast service past the morning hours .
According to Yahoo News , the new burgers have already been released in Sacramento, California and Toledo, Ohio. They will go nationwide this Summer.
