An earthquake was reported to have hit Monday around 12:30 pm in the Indian Head Park area. ABC News originally reported that the quake was a 3.7 magnitude earthquake with an epicenter of Indian Head Park, but is now reporting that it was a quarry blast in nearby Countryside Hills, Illinois.

According to NBC Chicago , the United States Geological Survey has confirmed that the shaking felt in the western suburbs Monday afternoon was in fact due to a quarry blast, not an actual earthquake . The report continued on to say the following:

“The USGS, indicating preliminary information, said a magnitude 3.7 quake shook the area at 12:35:34 p.m. CT. It was about 1.4 kilometers deep, scientists said. They later said the event was related to a quarry blast in Countryside, Ill . There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.”

According to EPOCH Times , a local law firm tweeted about feeling the quake : “Freaky to me! I’ve never in my life felt the ground shake. Or the building shake or whatever,” wrote CFBLaw.

Other tweets have started to surface regarding the shaking:

We received a call from our Oak Brook observer about what appeared to be a minor earthquake at 1236 PM CST. Shaking lasted ~5 sec. #ilwx
