Tupac Shakur Biopic ‘All Eyez On Me’ Honored In Clark County As Rapper’s Stepfather Vies For Parole On Deadly Bank Heist Sentence
In a poignant collision of circumstances related to slain rapper Tupac, the cast and crew of the Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On Me were honored in Clark County just as Shakur’s stepfather vies for parole on his sentence for a series of deadly bank robberies. The director, the star – Demetrius Shipp Jr. in the role of Tupac Shakur – and the producers were presented with a proclamation from Las Vegas’ Clark County Commissioner, Lawrence Weekly, for their work in the film on Tuesday evening.
In a parallel universe, or at least, in a parallel American coast, Shakur’s stepfather attended a hearing for mandatory parole on his 60-year sentence for multiple bank robberies in the 1980s and the resulting deaths of three people.
According to All Hip Hop, the filming of theTupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On Me began in December of last year and its content provides an all-encompassing insight into Shakur’s fascinating life story.
“The film chronicles the life and legacy of Tupac Shakur, including his rise to superstardom as a hip hop artist and actor, as well as his imprisonment and prolific, controversial time at Death Row Records, where he was steeped in the East coast/West coast rap war,” said All Hip Hop of All Eyez On Me.
The filming is expected to finish within the month, with the release to coincide with the 20-year anniversary of the fateful night in which Tupac Shakur was murdered, immortalizing him as a victim of the East coast/West coast gang wars.

Contact Music confirms that the film about the life and legacy of Tupac, a widely beloved and uniquely talented artist, has earned director Benny Boom, the star who plays Shakur,and the producers a “special proclamation” from Clark County Commissioner Lawrence Weekly. Shakur was shot and killed in the Las Vegas county in 1996, and the critical acclaim for All Eyez On Me is considered a poignant and fascinating tribute in memoriam of Tupac.
It’s for this reason that the Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On Me will be honored in Clark County: memories of Tupac Shakur of a different nature characterize the story of Shakur’s stepfather, who could soon walk free after having served half of his 60-year sentence for orchestrating a series of bank robberies in New York and Connecticut in the 1980s which left three people dead.

RollingOut explains the crimes for which Shakur’s father was imprisoned, and he may now be released on parole.
“Mutulu Shakur [masterminded] the robberies that occurred in New York and Connecticut that resulted in the murder of a Brinks armed guard Peter Paige and the theft of $1.6 million. Two hours later, the group was confronted by… police officers Waverly Brown and Sgt. Edward O’Grady, who were shot dead in an ambush. Shakur was also implicated in the successful prison escape that freed Assata Shakur,” reports RollingOut.
Mutulu Shakur, the 65-year-old stepfather of slain, but popularly immortalized, rapper Tupac, was sentenced and imprisoned in 1988 and has had six unsuccessful parole hearings since 2002.
A spokesman for the U.S. Justice Department, Peter Carr, explained to PEOPLE that Shakur was eligible for mandatory parole after serving 30 of the 60 years of his sentence for the string of deadly bank heists, and attended his hearing on April 7.
The decision of the parole hearing for Shakur’s stepfather has not yet been announced.
The millions of fans of Tupac’s immensely popular music are set to turn out in droves for the release of Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On Me, having been honored in Clark County for its quality and authenticity. As for Shakur’s stepfather, his fate rests in the hands of the U.S. Justice Department as he vies for parole on his sentence for the string of deadly bank robberies.
