Viewers who watch the Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley match live online will see the final act of a boxing legend. Pacquiao, the eight-division world champion, has said this will be his final fight and at Friday’s weigh-in, he took some time to soak in the thousands of fans there to cheer him on, ESPN noted.
Pacquiao promised a good show in what will be the third match between the two.
“I hope the fans really enjoy themselves on Saturday night,” Pacquiao said. “Expect more action in the ring. We did our best in training camp, and I will bring out my best on Saturday night.”
The match carries some significance for Manny Pacquiao beyond his retirement. After suffering a unanimous loss to Floyd Mayweather last year, he underwent surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and now has a chance to dull memories of the loss and go out on a high note. Pacquiao said he plans to focus on his political career after Saturday’s fight, serving as a congressman in his native Philippines.

There is still some concern among boxing experts that Pacquiao hasn’t fully recovered from his shoulder problems, and he skipped training sessions in the Philippines and Los Angeles. But his camp has insisted that Manny is ready for Saturday’s fight, the International Business Times reported.
There is also some thought that Manny Pacquiao could be persuaded out of retirement again — if the opponent is right. And that opponent could be Floyd Mayweather, Jr., IBT reported.
“I’m not going to say Floyd won’t fight again,” Floyd Mayweather Sr. told the L.A. Times recently. “[The new arena], that might [convince him], too. He might be persuaded,” he added. The 39-year-old Mayweather himself told Spike TV on Friday: “We don’t know what the future holds.”
As ESPN writer Wallace Matthews noted, there is no reason to doubt that Pacquiao’s desire to retire is legitimate, even though many other boxers have gone back on plans to retire.
The reasons are many — age, diminished skills, the likelihood that the longer he goes on, he will get hurt — but the best one is that there is really nothing else for Pacquiao to prove, no more titles for him to win and no amount of money that can affect his lifestyle above what he has already made.
Fans who watch the Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley match live online will see a lot on the line for Bradley as well. He defeated Pacquiao in a 2012 match that many believe Pacquiao should have won on points, and then lost in the pair’s first rematch. Saturday represents a chance to score a clean victory, and ESPN noted that a win “could go a long way toward determining whether he will make it to the International Boxing Hall of Fame.”
“I didn’t imagine this, but I feel this is what God had in store for me,” Bradley said. “I can beat Manny Pacquiao, and this is another opportunity. You all better get ready. There will be a lot of disappointed Pacquiao fans [Saturday] night.”
