Did Harry Styles Add Fashion Designer To List Of Career Options? A Hoax Or Fact?

Harry Styles fans have been waiting for him to pick a project for his One Direction hiatus, and it appears that being a fashion collaborator is in the cards for Harry… if headlines can be believed on April Fool’s Day.

According to an April 1 report from Fashionista, Harry Styles finally landed a gig with Gucci… and it did not appear this was an April Fool’s joke.

Sadly, near the end of April Fool’s Day, Fashionista updated their article and stated they were simply playing a trick on Harry Styles fans… and he does not have a Gucci contract.

This joke by Fashionista may have begun in December 2015 when they shared that Jared Leto was getting a contract with Gucci when they thought Harry Styles would have been the ideal choice.

Naturally, this may not have surprised fans when they saw the headline, and some likely did not think it was an April Fool’s Day joke about Harry Styles. After all, many fans might assume that Harry Styles will get a contract with Gucci because he has worn so many of Gucci’s styles in 2015 and 2016. For example, when it comes to awards ceremonies or special One Direction performances, it seems that Harry Styles’ number one choice lately is Gucci.

Around the end of September 2015, Harry Styles showed up at London Fashion Week wearing a “bold geometric” Gucci “wicker print” suit, according to Daily Mail.

In mid-November 2015, Harry Styles performed with One Direction for Good Morning America, according to Star Style Man, and he wore a “Gucci eagle print viscose short sleeve shirt.”

At the end of November, when Harry Styles was at the American Music Awards with One Direction, People describes his outfit as a “black-and-white floral two-piece cotton crêpe Gucci suit.”

Harry Styles also turned heads a few weeks later when he was wearing a red “Gucci Fall 2015 Blooms suit” for the X Factor reunion show around December 15, 2015, according to Daily Mail.

Finally, Harry Styles made hearts melt by wearing a Gucci “stretch twill jacket with piping” in One Direction’s “Perfect” video, according to Sugarscape.

Is there a reason that Harry Styles went from trainers and t-shirts to distinct designer fashion? The key to Harry Styles’ focus on Gucci appears to be Alessandro Michele. Guardian clarifies this with the following.

“[Alessandro] Michele is now the creative director at Gucci. He dresses Harry Styles and Alexa Chung, produces feted advertising campaigns with peacocks as accessories, and won best international designer at the British fashion awards last year.”

Sadly, sometimes Harry Styles fans do not find the appeal of his newer fashion tastes and want him to return to a former style. For example, Hollywood Life spotlighted Harry Styles’ pants at the 2015 BBC Music Awards and said that some of Harry’s recent wardrobe was “crazy” and suggested he hire a stylist.

On the other hand, MTV claimed in 2012 that “even Harry Styles can make an ugly Christmas sweater look good.”

Of course, Harry Styles is ultimately a fashion influencer, and an example of his possible reach is the popularity of the blue silk Yves Saint Laurent bomber jacket. Harry Styles wore the jacket at a 2015 Good Morning America performance in August 2015, and it has continued to be worn by other celebrities, according to GQ.

In fact, AOL verifies that out of the celebrities seen in this particular Yves Saint Laurent jacket, Harry Styles was officially the first to wear it.

In the end, if Harry Styles does decide to go into business with Gucci, the relationship could be rewarding if it is anything like Jared Leto’s.

Billboard writes that Harry Styles could be in for a real treat if he is considered by higher-ups at Gucci to be a natural fit with Alessandro Michele’s style… like Jared Leto. For instance, Gucci is currently calling Leto and Michele’s partnership “a match made in men’s fashion heaven.”
