‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’ Season 5 Cast News, Premiere Date And Controversy Over First Transgender Cast Member

VH1 has finally released the first trailer for Season 5 of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. In it, fans get their first real look at the cast for the most popular reality show in the Love & Hip Hop franchise. It seems that Mona Scott-Young can keep some things a secret, because that was the first reveal of D. Smith, the first transgender cast member to appear in all of Love & Hip Hop. That reveal has not come without drama after Scrappy made a controversial social media post about his new co-star. Momma Dee had something to say about it as well, and it’s pretty obvious that the next season of LHHATL won’t be boring.

Love & Hip Hop veterans Stevie J, Joseline Hernandez, Mimi Faust, Ariane Davis, Lil Scrappy, Karlie Redd, Rasheeda, Kirk Frost, and Momma Dee are all set to return for Season 5. In addition, Tammy Rivera and K. Michelle will be coming back to the show where they both got started.

It’s not the LHHATL old-timers that are making the most waves, though. Instead, it looks like the newest member to join the cast of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta has already caused quite a stir, according to Rolling Out. D. Smith is causing a lot of commotion after having been announced as a new arrival to LHHATL. On the same day that the new VH1 trailer dropped, Lil Scrappy jumped on social media to post an Instagram video that makes fun of his new transgender co-star.

VH1 said of D. Smith, “D. Smith is a groundbreaking music producer who makes her debut as the first ever transgender female in the ‘Love & Hip Hop’ franchise. This Miami-born, Brooklyn-bred Grammy Award-winning writer turned artist has worked with some of the hottest in the game, including Lil Wayne.” The new transgender VH1 star made waves last year, too, when she came out as being transgender.

After learning that D. Smith was transgender, Lil Scrappy went on an Instagram rant. In his video, the rapper turned reality star ranted, “If you ain’t got no motherf****n’ baby pictures on your motherf****n’ social media, you a motherf****n’ n***a,” he said in the uncomfortably profane clip. “You a man with a penis with a wig on. I gotta check these motherf*****s’ baby pictures nowadays.” It looks like scenes between the two might get pretty tense now that Scrappy knows. With the premiere date coming up fast, we know that filming is already underway. Was Scrappy reacting so harshly toward D. Smith because something already happened on the show?

No matter what Scrappy’s reason was for the outburst, his mom was not happy about how he acted. Momma Dee responded right after Scrappy with her own Instagram post. In a message where Momma Dee insist that trans lives matter, she explains in depth just how much she disagrees with Lil Scrappy. Could this huge social media call out of her son cause drama between Momma Dee and Scrappy?

We know that Erica Dixon isn’t coming back to LHHATL. Dixon said last month that she declined to continue her child support drama with Scrappy on-screen. Erica has reportedly moved on with her NFL boyfriend William Gay, and doesn’t seem interested airing her dirty laundry on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta anymore.

Adiz “Bambi” Benson will be on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta though, and this time, she actually made the cast list. We’re betting she has plenty to say about Scrappy now that the on-again, off-again pair are on the outs. Scrappy and Yung Joc are reportedly going to room together, and since they are both single, they’ll likely be doing a lot of partying together, too. There are rumors that Scrappy and Joc have been enjoying the single life quite a bit and have been treating their apartment like a jump off bachelor pad.

Stevie J and Joseline Hernandez will be back on LHHATL even though there are some pretty strong rumors that they aren’t even together anymore. Stevie J admitted that he and Joseline weren’t married after she was spotted cozying up to Rick Ross at his birthday party not long ago. There are also rumblings that Stevie has really been spending some serious one-on-one time with Faith Evans and not all of their studio sessions were about making music.

Season 5 of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta premieres on April 5. That is just a few short weeks away and now that Love & Hip HopNew York has aired their finale, we just need to see what is really going on with Amina Buddafly at the reunion show so we can move on to the Atlanta crowd.
