‘The Witcher 3’ DLC Release Date Slated For April 26? ‘Blood And Wine’ Expansion Going To Be Huge

A possible Witcher 3 DLC release date surfaced online, suggesting that fans might see the highly-anticipated game expansion next month. According to a report from Attack of the Fanboy, the latest rumor for the Blood and Wine DLC of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt indicates that April 26 is the release date.

It was noted by GRYOnline.pl, as cited by Attack of the Fanboy, that the upcoming DLC will be available for all platforms. The Witcher 3 is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, and Microsoft Windows. But since nothing official has been announced yet regarding the release date for the Witcher 3 DLC, fans are expected to take this possibility with a grain of salt.

It is expected that the Blood and Wine DLC for The Witcher 3 will be ending the storyline of the main protagonist, Geralt of Rivia.

“With Blood and Wine will try to close, at least for a while, the universe of ‘The Witcher,'” game developer CD Projekt Red explained. “It will be the last adventure of Geralt as a main character. But beyond that, there is still nothing written in stone. Blood and Wine will be our conclusion of the story of Geralt, then it’s time to focus with all the energy of Cyberpunk 2077.”

Furthermore, Neurogadget’s report cited the possibility that the forthcoming DLC will be about vampires. For one, having the word “blood” in the expansion’s official title could be a hint. The post also made a reference to the “A Night to Remember” trailer.

“In the Witcher 3 trailer ‘A Night to Remember,’ Geralt fights a creature that is either a bruxa or an alp, both of which are types of vampires. The trailer concludes with him riding toward what appears to be Toussaint, the city where Blood and Wine will be set.”

Meanwhile, a video report from IGN noted that the game developer is going big with the The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine DLC. Reportedly, Toussaint, the city where the expansion will be set, is going to be “comparable in size” to Novigrad and Velen. Watch the video below.

In addition to the release date news for the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt DLC, the high-fantasy, open-world RPG received a total of seven nominations from BAFTA Games Awards. The game developer expressed its gratitude via a Twitter post.

Digital Spy reported that The Witcher 3 has a shot to be the Best Game along with Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, which was able to score the highest number of nominations. Other video games nominated at the 2016 British Academy Games Awards for the Best Game recognition are Fallout 4, Metal Gear Solid V, Life is Strange, and Rocket League.

The Witcher 3 is also nominated for Story, Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Game Design, and Persistent Game, the list of nominations on official BAFTA website noted. Moreover, Doug Cockle, who plays as Geralt of Rivia, is also nominated as the best performer.

It is not surprising for the well-received The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to receive a nomination as the best game from BAFTA. CD Projekt Red’s title was awarded the Game of the Year during the 2015 Game Awards.

Accordingly, it took CD Projekt Red three and a half years to develop The Witcher 3. Hearts of Stone, its first expansion, was released October 2015, receiving highly positive reviews from gamers. Moreover, 16 pieces of DLC was also released for the game for free.
