What Is Rory Feek Doing Now That Joey Feek Has Died? Burial Plans, His Touching Words, Her Final Photos, And More

It was less than a week ago that Joey Feek’s cancer battle left her with just mere days in this world before she would take her final breath. Her husband, Rory Feek, updated the world on his wife’s journey as she fought the horrible disease, said her final goodbyes, and fell into a “deep sleep.” Now, Rory must move on in different ways after his wife died, and that includes looking at her final photos, being a father, and making burial plans.

On March 4, Joey Feek finally succumbed to the cancer she had been battling since her diagnosis in May of 2014. After that, Rory took their 2-year-old daughter, Indiana, and returned home to Tennessee to try and make life as normal as possible for her.

It was then that a photo was posted to Rory and Joey’s Instagram to show their daughter’s beautiful smile as they were reunited with the horses they owned.

Rory Feek captioned it quite simply and said nothing more than “home.”

It was a photo that had a drastic and different feel than the one posted a day earlier on the couple’s Instagram account as Joey Feek was on her deathbed.

The image is that of Joey Feek’s hand being held by the couple’s oldest daughter, Heidi. As Rory Feek said, Heidi was “by her mama’s side last night. Holding on and letting go” as she slipped away and had to fight no more.

Life is going to be different for Rory Feek and his family now that his 40-year-old wife has passed away. On Sunday, he posted a photo from their home in Tennessee, and it stated that they were “making plans that I hoped we would never have to make.”

ET Online stated that it was back in November when Rory revealed Joey wanted to be buried on the family farm using wood from the property.

“A rough-cut wooden box with a cross on it was placed beneath the bay of the bus and brought up here because that’s what Joey wants. ‘Thomas to make my box… simple, from wood at the farm’, she said. ‘And find a good spot in the family cemetery in the field behind our house, where we put your mama’s ashes last year… with room enough beside my headstone for you to join me someday… in God’s time.'”

The world has followed the blog that has been kept by Rory Feek as Joey battled through cancer while making the most of the time she had left with her family. Fans got to watch everything from daily moments to dinners to the couple’s last Valentine’s Day together and a special moment.

Rory Feek had written on his blog, The Life I Live, that Joey passed away at 2:30 p.m. on March 4 as her family gathered around her and prayed. He held her hand and kissed her goodbye one last time and remembered so many great moments he spent with his wife and the dreams she had that came true.

He concluded that entry on the blog with the fact that he was packing their bags and heading home. Rory wiped his tears and knew that his wife “already got a head-start on” him, and it wasn’t known if he would continue the blog now that his partner, his wife, was gone.

Rory Feek may not have told the world what he plans on doing just yet since his wife, Joey Feek, lost her fight to cancer. She will soon be laid to rest as burial plans have been made, but from there, Rory is going to continue being a father and making sure the world always remember the wonderful woman that Joey was and is.
