‘The Vampire Diaries’ Cancelled? Salvatore Brothers To Move To ‘The Originals’?

Rumor has it that The Vampire Diaries will be cancelled after Season 7. This is not exactly new news, but the rumors of the Salvatore brothers heading to New Orleans to join the Mikaelson family in The Originals is. Rumors even include the idea that Nina Dobrev will come back and move to New Orleans with the two brothers.

Fans have not been happy about Season 7. Many tuned out after Dobrev left at the end of Season 6, deciding she no longer wanted to play the role of Elena Gilbert. The problem for many fans was that the show was all about Elena in the first place; along with the love triangle between her and the two Salvatore brothers. Stelena and Delena fans argued over who was the best fit for her, until she finally chose Damon at the end of Season 4. With her gone, Damon went back to the darker vampire he once was on The Vampire Diaries, and Stefan moved on to Caroline.

The move to Friday nights was a bad sign for The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. That is usually the night for dying shows, so the CW has a reason to cancel it the next year. Now it seems that the spin-off will continue, but fans will say goodbye to the show originally based on the books of the same name.

Parent Herald reports that the ratings saw a drop by a tenth over the last two weeks. The Inquisitr previously reported that the possibility of Klaroline brought some fans back, but then that possibility seemed impossible when Caroline found out nobody in New Orleans had seen or heard from Klaus in the last three years.

Fans have welcomed the idea of the Salvatore brothers joining the Mikaelson family in New Orleans. It would mean The Vampire Diaries fans see the idea of Klaroline back on the table once more, despite Stefan making it clear in the two-hour crossover event that Klaus once loved Caroline, hinting that he no longer does now. Klaus has also pointed out that his life is extremely messy at the moment.

Some Vampire Diaries fans have said that it is time for the show to go. Some believe the brothers played by Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley will not move onto The Originals. It looks like both want to hang up their roles of Damon and Stefan Salvatore, and there are hints that Damon is about to end his time terrorizing the world. In the flash-forward scenes over the last few months, Damon had been injected with werewolf poison, which means the end is coming for him. Stefan is also marked by Rayna, and once she dies, he will die, too. The two storylines could bring a complete end to the Salvatore brothers, rounding up the whole of The Vampire Diaries cleanly.

The show has now caught up with the three-year time jumps, so fans now want to know what is in store not just for The Vampire Diaries but also for The Originals. For the two shows to join, The Originals will need to jump forward in time, too, but that certainly does not seem to be happening any time soon. The spinoff still has storylines set in the present day to finish off before it even considers a time jump.

The Vampire Diaries has now taken a mini-hiatus and will return on April 1. Fans will get to see what is in store three years into the future for the Salvatore brothers, and there may be flashbacks to see just how Caroline came to hate her former boyfriend and how the relationship with Alaric blossomed. They may also get to see what actually happened to Bonnie over the last three years.
