‘Star Wars’: Daisy Ridley Says ‘Episode VIII’ Teasers Will Be ‘Cheekier,’ Mark Hamill Discusses Luke Skywalker’s Sexuality, And John Boyega V. EA Games On ‘Battlefront’

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, also entitled Episode VII, has begun to slowly fade from the spotlight. Star Wars as a franchise, however, has just begun to jump into gear. With Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars Episode VIII, and Episode XI coming out over the next few years, the invigorated saga has no shortage of long-term momentum. Daisy Ridley, who plays Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ heroine and potential New Hope Jedi named Rey, is finally out in the spotlight, now that spoiler concerns have passed. Still, Star Wars fans have many question, and Star Wars Episode VIII is said to answer many of them. Episode VIII has had one minor teaser so far. With more than a year a way, Daisy Ridley says future teasers are going to be a lot “cheekier,” Comic Book reports.

“It’s still very lovely and warm and friendly, just like seven was. I think Rian actually wants to be a bit cheekier with the little tidbits of information that come out.”

Cheeky being a British term, and Daisy Ridley being British, makes it a little hard to understand her explanation, as Urban Dictionary seems to imply it is similar to facetious. Ridley, however, seems to imply that Star Wars Episode VIII teasers and information will be a little less guarded or secretive.

“You can see, even with the way Mark and Carrie posted pictures with their chairs, it’s a little bit freer.”

Star Wars Episode VIII will be directed by Rian Johnson (Looper), so it is certainly hard for Daisy Ridley or anyone to predict the next film. Just the same as it will be hard to figure out the homosexuality entrance in the Star Wars saga that has been in debate since the first Finn and Poe Dameron same-sex couple theory hit the net.

Currently, the discussion had turn to a Star Wars legacy character like Luke Skywalker, and whether or not Luke could be homosexual or even bisexual. Mark Hamill, Luke Skywalker himself, chose to take to the net to reveal his thoughts on the subject.

“Fans are writing and ask all these questions, ‘I’m bullied in school… I’m afraid to come out.’ They say to me, ‘Could Luke be gay? I’d say it is meant to be interpreted by the viewer. If you think Luke is gay, of course he is. You should not be ashamed of it. Judge Luke by his character, not by who he loves.”

Mark Hamill’s answer, easily, was sentimental, but also middle of the road about Luke Skywalker’s sexuality. Besides, if it were going to be something important for future films or spin-offs, it is unlikely Mark Hamill would even know about it at this point anyway.

Speaking of the Star Wars character Finn, its actor, John Boyega, has been playing a lot of Star Wars Battlefront. For those who have played Star Wars Battlefront, certain glaring issues are shared among most who play the game. The biggest complaint certainly lies within the fact that your access to Star Wars characters is extraordinarily limited to mostly nameless stormtroopers, much like John Boyega’s Finn used to be, before he became a “traitor.” Not to mention a lack of a single-player mode and storymode, so John Boyega took to Twitter to question EA Games directly, according to Den of Geek.

“Will fans get a full-on offline story mode? It’s more of an enjoyable way to learn controls.”

EA Games suggested that Boyega try out some of the multiplayer missions to satiate his desire for some type of story to follow, but John Boyega respectfully kept pressing on with his previous inquiry.

“Yeah, thought it was great! But definitely leaves you wanting to engage with a narrative. Can I visit your base in the UK?”

Star Wars character Greedo and Nien Nunb have been added to the game, but the same issue remains and seems unlikely to be changed for this edition.
