Mariah Carey Joins The Cast Of The Butler

It looks like Mariah Carey is having a busy working year. It was announced today that Mariah Carey is returning to acting, which would be her second time on the big screen since her universally panned attempt with Glitter.

It is said Carey’s latest venture into acting is starring alongside the strangest and most bloated cast of The Butler, which stars a slew of who’s who of Hollywood including Robin Williams, Oprah Winfrey, Jane Fonda, John Cusack, James Marsden, Liam Neeson, Forest Whitaker, Terrance Howard, amongst 8 other additional names. Although it hasn’t been said what role Mariah Carey will take in The Butler, it’s sure to be a good one.

The Butler is a film that is based on the true story of a butler who has served under 8 American Presidents over the course of three decades, and the butler’s experience with each president through the telling of historical events. This isn’t the first time Carey has taken advantage of having a small role. After Glitter, Mariah Carey took a small but pivotal role in the Oscar nominated Precious, which was also directed by Lee Daniels, who just so happens to be directing The Butler as well.

Just last week it was announced that Mariah Carey will be earning an estimated $18 million for one season of judging American Idol, which makes her the highest paying judge in history. Carey is expected to sit alongside Randy Jackson and another judge that’s yet to be announced for the season 12 edition of American Idol.

Do you think Mariah Carey is making a smart move in her career or should she get back to the music that made her so popular?
