Kylie Jenner Moves On From Kardashian Brand And Tries To Trademark Her First Name

Rumors are swirling that Kylie Jenner wants to leave the Kardashian brand behind. It all happened when the reality star revealed on Twitter that she’s trying to “move on from the Ks,” which many of her fans interpreted as her famous sisters.

It was no surprise that Kylie Jenner’s latest lip kit sold out within seven minutes. It seems nearly impossible to get your hands on one of Jenner’s popular shades. The story behind her new orange shade is her attempt to move past the Kardashian name theme.

Kylie’s previous shades were Koko K, named after her sister Khloe, Candy K, and Dolce K, Posie K, and True Brown K. She also named Mary Jo K after her grandmother. But Kylie’s new orange hue is called “22” with no K at the end, because that wouldn’t make sense. Fans asked the 18-year-old why the new shade doesn’t follow suit with the previous names.

“Moving on from the Ks slowly but surely,” she vaguely responded on Twitter over the weekend after another fan joked that she was surprised Kylie Cosmetics wasn’t changed to Kylie Kosmetics.

Not only does the Jenner teen have an ever-growing lip collection, but she also released her first-ever King Kylie Collection, which includes four of her signature nail colors. Although it’s not clear what Jenner meant when she revealed that she’s moving on from the Ks, it just might have to do with the naming and branding of her lip products. Perhaps the younger Jenner sister wants to step out of the Kardashian spotlight and mark her own career, just like her sister Kendall has tried to do.

When Kendall first started modeling, she dropped her last name and minimized her involvement on Keeping Up with the Kardashians. She wanted to be known as a model, not as a reality star, even though that’s how she got her start. She even reportedly banned her family from her runway shows so that they wouldn’t steal her thunder.

As for Kylie, she’s not just focused on conquering the beauty and fashion world. She’s launching a few new ventures, including her own cooking show called Cooking with Kylie, which will be featured on her popular app and website. Kylie wants to drop her last name for the sake of business and branding. She’s been trying trademark her first name, but she forgot about another famous person of the same name – Kylie Minogue.

According to a report published via the Guardian, Kylie Minogue has placed a legal bid to prevent Kylie Jenner from claiming ownership of her first name. The young starlet wants to use the trademark so she can expand her beauty and clothing empire.

But last week, KDB, an Australian firm representing Minogue, rejected Jenner’s application, claiming that allowing her to use the name Kylie would cause confusion among Minogue’s fans and downgrade her branding. The legal documents obtained by the media refer to Jenner as a “secondary reality television personality,” while it describes Minogue as an “internationally renowned performing artist, humanitarian, and breast cancer activist.”

Even Wendy Williams had some harsh things to say about Kylie Jenner on her show on Tuesday regarding Jenner’s attempt to trademark her first name.

“If you want to name your kid ‘Kylie’ or if you want to do a ‘Kylie’ anything – you have to go through this?!” the talk show host said, pointing to a photo of the star.

“First of all, Kylie Minogue was invented before Kylie Jenner – and Kylie Minogue is the one who’s got a litany of websites and products and things like that, that are simply called ‘Kylie.'”

Williams then slammed Jenner by calling her an “entitled rich girl” and placed the blame on her momager, Kris Jenner.

“I don’t know where Kylie gets off feeling so entitled – oh, I get it, her mom. Bingo. She’s a child and she does not know any better – nor will she be taught any better.”

If Kylie wants to leave the Kardashian brand behind, the last thing she should do is move into another person’s territory. Watch the rest of what Wendy Williams has to say about the trademark battle in the video below.
