Bobbi Kristina Brown: Head Submerged In Water And Drugs Led To Death, Autopsy States [Breaking]

Bobbi Kristina Brown died from lack of oxygen, coupled with drug use, according to a Friday statement by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office in Atlanta.

Fox411 reports that Bobbi Kristina, 22, who passed away last July after battling irreversible brain damage for six months, developed the brain injuries after being submerged for too long in water, in her bathtub, on January 31, 2015. Alcohol and drugs, including marijuana and anxiety medications, also played a part in her death.

According to a statement released by the medical examiner’s office, “The underlying cause of death is the condition which starts the downhill course of events leading to death and in this case is the immersion associated with drug intoxication.”

Last year, Georgia authorities stated that they knew how Bobbi Kristina died, yet the public was never officially informed until a judge honored the media’s request and, on Thursday, granted permission for the autopsy to be unsealed.

Bobbi Kristina died in an eerily similar fashion as her mother, R&B singer Whitney Houston. In 2012, Houston was found face down and comatose in a Beverly Hills hotel. She was scheduled to attend Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party the night she was found, which ultimately continued as scheduled, despite her death. Bobbi Kristina was found face down and unconscious in the master bathtub of her Roswell, Georgia, townhome that she shared with her former boyfriend, Nick Gordon.

A previous statement by the medical examiner’s office revealed that “no significant injuries” were found on Bobbi Kristina. The medical examiner’s office also stated, however, that the time that elapsed between when she was found unresponsive and when she passed away would “complicate reconstruction of the events surrounding her initial unresponsiveness.”

Gordon, 26, remained the primary suspect since the night Bobbi Kristina was found. Although he’s never been criminally charged with her death, he’s currently battling a wrongful death lawsuit that accuses him of physically and emotionally abusing Bobbi Kristina, as well as stealing thousands of dollars from her bank account. The lawsuit alleges that the 22-year-old “died due to a violent altercation with Defendant (Gordon)” and that he injected her with a lethal mix of drugs.

Gordon’s attorneys, which include high-profile Florida lawyer Jose Baez, called the wrongful death lawsuit slanderous and completely false. Last month, Gordon’s legal team said that their client continues to grieve in private over the loss of Bobbi Kristina. So far, a court date for the lawsuit hasn’t been announced.

Bobbi Kristina was buried beside her mother at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey. She was Houston’s only child. Her father, R&B singer Bobby Brown, took Bobbi Kristina’s death tragically as expected, but announced in October 2015 that writing a memoir has helped him cope with the loss and has proven therapeutic.

“I was surprised by how therapeutic it was to work on this project, to look at the entire arc of my life and to realize that although there has been considerable pain, I have also been incredibly blessed. I hope my fans and other readers of this book will be entertained by this trip into the crazy, exciting, fascinating world of Bobby Brown. And I hope they will feel that I have been as honest and open with them in these pages as I have tried to be my entire life.”

Aside from being the child of famous parents, Bobbi Kristina Brown was arguably best known for starring in the reality show The Houstons: On Our Own, which gave fans a glimpse into her life after her mother’s death.
