Anderson Silva Fight: Michael Bisping Wants UFC Title Shot

Michael Bisping wants a crack at UFC Champion Anderson Silva‘s title upon his return to the ring, if he gets past Brian Stann.

As USA Today reports, Bisping lost a shot to go up against Anderson Silva in January when he went up against Chael Sonnen, giving Sonnen a rematch with Silva. At UFC 148 earlier this month, Sonnen lost that rematch.

After UFC 149 on Saturday Bisping told FUEL TV:

“Anderson is an incredible fighter – he’s the best. I want to fight him. I know (Brian Stann does). I’m sure I could give him a better fight than what he’s had recently, and I’m sure (Stann) would, as well. Whoever wins this, we should get the next shot at the title.”

Michael Bisping will face off against Brian Stan in Toronto at UFC 152 this September, reports Bleacher Report. The winner of which will be considered in the running for a shot at the title fight against Anderson Silva. Bisping believes he’s going to be the one earning that spot:

“I’ve been told if I beat him [Stann] – and beat him well – I’ll get a title shot. But I haven’t gotten it in writing, so it probably doesn’t mean anything.”

According to MMA Junkie, UFC president Dana White, it’s a real possibility he may still get his chance against Silva:

“Bisping’s right in there. Bisping is very, very underrated because people hate him so bad. All the guys Bisping’s fought throughout his career … the guy’s without a doubt one of the best 185-pounders in the world.”

Bisping believes that the fight between him and Stann should be the UFC 152 main event, instead of the flyweight title fight between Joseph Benavidez and Demetrious Johnson, stating:

“In my opinion, and I think in most people’s, this is the main event. This is the real main event. Two big, hard-hitting guys. No one cares about little flyweights. Someone’s getting knocked out – it ain’t going to be me, though.

“I’ve been around the UFC since 2005, consistently fighting the best guys in the world, and I’ve done very, very well. I was robbed in the decision when I fought Chael. If I hadn’t been robbed there, when I beat Brian I’d be on a six-fight win streak. I think I deserve a shot.”
