‘Star Wars Episode 8’ Spoilers: Next Movie Could Explain How Kylo Ren Was Pulled To The Dark Side, His Relationship To Rey
The Star Wars Episode 8 spoilers are pointing toward a satisfying reveal for fans yearning to know just how Kylo Ren was pulled into the Dark Side and what connection he might share with Rey.

Kylo Ren was the imposing antagonist of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, playing both the shadowy villain obsessed with the memory of Darth Vader and a surprisingly human and flawed young man who struggles with following the Dark Side or returning to his more innocent roots.
Star Wars fans could soon know more about that back story, including just how Kylo Ren went from the son of Hans Solo and Princess Leia to one of the most destructive forces in the galaxy. Movie Pilot, which has become a hub for deciphering Star Wars Episode 8 spoilers, uncovered a bit of Kylo Ren’s background from the novelization of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
In the novel, it was revealed that Supreme Leader Snoke was actually the one pulling Ben Solo to the Dark Side since he was a child.
“He knew our child would be strong with the Force. That he was born with equal potential for good or evil… In the beginning, even before I realized what was happening, he was manipulating everything, pulling our son towards the Dark Side.”
The novel also shows Kylo Ren as emotionally unstable, often breaking into fits of rage where he destroys parts of Starkiller Base. Those following closely could soon learn a bit more about where that anger stems from and how Ben Solo became Kylo Ren.

Another upcoming Star Wars book, called Bloodlines, will explore what happened to Leia Organa in the years after the events in Return of The Jedi, including her role in the war with the Empire.
But as Movie Pilot noted, there could also be a key spoiler for Star Wars Episode 8, showing how she failed in raising her son Ben.
“And yet, while Leia was busy organizing the New Republic and dealing with the aftermath of the war, she may have made her biggest mistake by allowing her son to train with Luke Skywalker. Isolated from his parents, Ben Solo was more vulnerable to Snoke’s manipulation. We don’t know how Snoke managed to communicate with and corrupt Ben; hopefully Episode 8 or Bloodlines will reveal this.”
This could also dovetail with another mystery left unanswered from Star Wars: The Force Awakens — the origin of Rey. The prevailing theories suggest that Rey is the daughter of Luke Skywalker or could be the granddaughter of Obi Wan Kenobi, and each camp pulls some supporting evidence from the latest movie.

But there could be yet another possibility. As The Week noted, another theory suggests that she is the daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leia, and idea supported from some of the supporting books on the fringe of the Star Wars universe.
“While every possible permutation of Rey’s parentage is being explored, one idea proving more popular than others is the suggestion that rather than being either Snoke or Luke’s child, she will turn out to be the daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leia. In the many books and comics released after the original trilogy was complete, the couple had three children, one of whom turned to the dark side. Although those plot lines were subsequently declared non-canon after Disney bought Lucasfilm for $4bn (£2.7bn) in 2012, some believe the core relationship will be revived.”
If this Star Wars Episode 8 spoiler turns out to be true, then the identity of Rey and the reason her brother Kylo Ren turned to the dark side could end up being intertwined.
