Amy Lord, Edwin Alemany: Video Of Boston Murder Victim’s Kidnapping To Air On Investigation Discovery’s ‘See No Evil’

Amy Lord was a 24-year old Boston woman who was abducted and killed after her kidnapper, 28-year old Edwin Alemany, made her withdraw money from several ATM machines in Dorchester back in 2013. Amy Lord’s story will be fleshed out on a new episode of See No Evil— a new crime tv series on Investigation Discovery (ID). See No Evil focuses on cases that have video surveillance footage as a central part of the investigation. In tonight’s episode, entitled “Watching Amy Lord,” ID viewers will see disturbing video footage of a badly beaten Amy Lord as she takes money from an automatic teller machine. Edwin Alemany was eventually convicted and sentenced to time in prison for her death. The attack on two other women that same day helped police trace the clues back to Alemany. See No Evil will tell the story tonight from the perspective of family and friends of Amy Lord, as well as one of the women who survived the attack.

Edwin Alemany was on a vicious crime spree back in 2013 when he brutally attacked two women who got away. One woman wasn’t so lucky. Amy Lord was preparing to go to the gym when she was suddenly hijacked by Edwin Alemany—a crazed man who authorities say had a history of mental illness and violence. Amy Lord’s dead body was later found by a bicyclist at the Stony Brook Reservation in Boston’s Hyde Park. Investigators also found her burning car, which was traced back to a missing persons report that had been filed by her family members after she missed an appointment. Assistant District Attorney John Pappas told the Boston Globe the following:

“What happened shortly after 7:05 a.m. — words alone, ladies and gentlemen, can’t describe the injuries that this man inflicted on Amy Elizabeth Lord.() The magnitude of the trauma was severe. We believe that Ms. Lord was abducted in South Boston, taken to Stony Brook where she was fatally stabbed.() It’s our belief that the victim was in her vehicle with a potential suspect between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6:47 a.m. at various banks in the city of Boston.”

Friends and family say that Amy Lord was a good girl who was serious about her studies. She graduated from Minnechaug Regional High School, where she was an honors student, and then went on to graduate Bentley University, where she majored in Marketing. Life hadn’t been so good for Edwin Alemany, who many say struggled in school with learning disorders and erratic and disruptive behavior. Before long, Alemany was on a first name basis with the police department after he was arrested several times for various offenses — some of them violent.

As for the Amy Lord case, Boston authorities credit tenacious police work, along with video footage, for helping them retrace Amy Lord’s steps as she was abducted. An injured Edwin Alemany eventually entered the local emergency room, where he was recognized as being the attacker of one of the surviving victims. District Attorney Dan Conley stated to WBUR.

“Alemany spent the hours after killing Lord spending the money he allegedly stole from her. He allegedly bought ‘lots and lots’ of lottery tickets and a cellphone, and paid off his girlfriend’s and brother’s cellphone accounts. Having burned Lord’s car, he allegedly called a livery service and took a Lincoln Town Car to a liquor store to buy Corona beer, then ate a pu-pu platter and drank ‘Suffering Bastard’ cocktails at the Tahiti restaurant with his brother and friend.”

At trial, Edwin Alemany had hoped to get off on an insanity defense, but that defense was rejected. Alemany was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. To get further details on this dramatic case, watch #SeeNoEvil tonight at 10/9 p.m. central on Investigation Discovery (ID).
