‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ Spoilers — Which 4 Classic DC Superheroes Are Coming To The ‘Arrow’ Spin-Off?

It’s been fairly clear from the start that Legends of Tomorrow is willing to introduce a lot of old DC characters to its growing universe. In fact, we’re only two episodes in and the new series has already featured a number of different characters from the wider DC universe. With that in mind, what other superheroes are set to make an appearance on the first season of Legends?

According to io9, fans can expect four new heroes to grace the set of Legends at some point this season. These heroes range from characters featured in the Golden Age of comics to some of the oldest superheroes in the DC world.

For starters, fans can expect Hourman to make a showing in Legends. While the details are still slim concerning his storyline, the character is expected to join forces with the group of heroes and will be slightly different from the comic book version.

DC Comics posted a promo image on Instagram that hinted at Hourman’s upcoming cameo on Legends.

The photo included an hourglass with the caption, “With this hourglass, it’s pharmaceutically empowered owner can peer into the near future.”

The next character to be included in the series is Sandman. The DC version of Sandman is completely different than Neil Gaiman’s popular ’90s comic. Instead of being some kind of immortal being that rules over the world of dreams, the DC Sandman uses a gun filled with gas to send people into a dream state.

At the same time, Sgt. Rock is also set to make an appearance on Legends of Tomorrow. The character’s origins date back to the Silver Age of comics, which presents an interesting storyline that might be explored in the series.

In fact, all of the characters mentioned so far are from the 1930s and 1940s, making it possible that the show will include a WWII-themed episode. This would make sense given Vandal Savage’s history with Nazi Germany.

The final hero set to make an appearance is none other than Ma Hunkle, or Red Tornado. Although other versions of the Red Tornado are cyborgs, Ma Hunkle is a regular person who lacks any special powers. The only distinguishing characteristic of Ma Hunkle is the pot she wears on her head.

According to Cinema Blend, this pot was included in one of the promo pics for the show.

“The armor may be DIY, but this guy is no pushover–come to think of it, he’s not a guy at all. So who’s under that pot…?” the image caption read.

Meanwhile, apart from the new superheroes who are set to be introduced, Legends is set to bring back one character that previously died.

[Warning! There are spoilers ahead]

In fact, Cinema Blend is reporting that there is a chance fans will see Hawkman make a return to the series, although not in the usual way.

As fans will recall, Hawkman met a surprising end during the latest episode of Legends of Tomorrow. Although the character might not be raised from the dead anytime soon, there will be plenty of flashbacks involving Hawkman and Hawkgirl, which should give fans a few more scenes with the character.

Speaking of Hawkgirl, executive producer Phil Klemmer recently sat down with TV Guide and discussed her development in the series as it moves forward.

“What we’re going to explore in our show is her gradually remembering all the lives they had together in various time periods and how they inform this life,” he shared. “How everything she’s learned in her 208 deaths will give her the strength and power and knowledge on how to not fail this time, when she will ultimately confront Vandal Savage.”

Legends of Tomorrow airs Thursday nights on The CW.
