Jacob Tremblay Steals The SAG Awards With Killer Dance Moves
Jacob Tremblay, 9, stole yet another award show. After showing off his dance moves at one of the after parties at the Critic’s Choice Awards, Tremblay was asked while on the red carpet at the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards to give an encore performance of his Bruno Mars-esque moves, and luckily for viewers at home, he did.
After some back and forth, Tremblay was happy to do a little twirl and show off his warm up dance moves, even though he was on a carpet, so it was a little different.
Jacob, the star of the film Room, wasn’t just excited to cut a rug afterward. While on the red carpet, Tremblay, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the SAGs, told People that he was excited to finally meet Leonardo DiCaprio.
“There’s gonna be Leonardo DiCaprio here. There could be tons of people here. I’m excited to meet him.” That said, don’t expect Tremblay to be star struck by anyone. He said that he and Black Mass actor Johnny Depp are “like best friends.”
Tremblay shared his cute snap with DiCaprio at the SAGs, and as stated, this wasn’t the first superstar the young actor has met throughout the awards and press junkets for Room. Although he was excited to meet DiCaprio, we’re willing to bet he was even more excited to meet Oscar Isaac, who played his favorite character, Poe, in the latest Star Wars installment.
Here’s just a sampling of some of the people he’s met.
Even though the pint sized star didn’t win at the SAG Awards, he once again stole the show. This time he stood by his co-star, Brie Larson, who went on to win the SAG for Best Actress for her portrayal of Ma in Room. The two took to the stage to present the award for Best Actor in a Limited Series.
Tremblay tried his hand at comedy and got laughs from the audience when he said the following.
“I can still remember the first time I got nominated for a SAG Award. I was only 9 years old, and I was competing against Batman.”
Tremblay then had the opportunity to give the SAG award to winner Idris Elba.
The Room actor had a huge night a few weeks ago at the Critic’s Choice Awards where he won for Best Young Actor. He stole the whole night with his acceptance speech, calling the moment “The best day of my life.”
“It must be a super hard vote because of all the other great actors in this category. I also want to thank team Room… and all the other producers over there.”
And if there was a question where he would put the award, Tremblay explained, “I know where to put this, right on the shelf, right beside my Millennium Falcon.”
When Brie Larson took home her award at the SAGs, she highlighted Tremblay’s performance.
“Jacob Tremblay — my inspiration. Everything that is this movie is because of you.”
As for Larson, she has swept all of the awards, which means she’s poised to take home the Academy Award on February 28 for Room. We can’t wait to watch Larson and Tremblay work out some dance moves at the final after party.
