Snoop Dogg For ‘Planet Earth’? Yes Lawd!

Snoop Dogg’s fans all over the world want him to host Planet Earth, and someone has filed a petition demanding the same, says Time Magazine. Now, let’s get back to where that came from. Dogg has already narrated a segment called “Plizzanet Earth” on Jimmy Kimmel Live. But it looks like his fans now want him to host not the spoof but the real David Attenborough show.

The petition is up on Change.org and was started by someone by the name of Kelly Ooton. The petition has 16,026 signatures as of 3:15 p.m. EST. It now needs only 8,974 to reach 25,000.

The petition is addressed to Animal Planet and says, “Snoop Dogg has narrated some Planet Earth in the past but yo we need him to narrate full episodes. Sign the petition if you agree.”

The rapper has also posted a link to the campaign on his Instagram, which says, “Who made this? Let’s get this s**t going. Who want more #PlizzanetEarth?”

Snoop Dogg fans want him to start narrating the full episodes, says USA Today.

From the Twitter post, it looks like Snoop Dogg would be more than happy to host Planet Earth provided he gets some time out from his social activism. Snoop Dogg was recently quoted when he criticized the Academy for not nominating black actors, Billboard reported. Dogg has also been recently involved in expanding his brand name. Dogg started his own cannabis brand by the name of Leafs By Snoop.

“Since I’ve been at the forefront of this movement for over 20 years now, I’m a master of marijuana,” the rapper added at a launch event on Monday (November 9, 2015), according to the Guardian. “Leafs By Snoop is truly the first mainstream cannabis brand in the world and proud to be a pioneer.”

If you haven’t seen “Plizzanet Earth,” the following clip may give you a sneak peek. This clip, “Plizzanet Earth with Snoop Dogg – Otter vs. Crocs,” has close to two million hits on YouTube. For anyone who has watched “Plizzanet Earth” knows Snoop Dogg is quite funny in all the videos he does. During his Planet Earth spoof, Snoop clearly confuses one animal with the other, but it makes for great comedy, says the Daily Star.

In the video, he says, “What is these animals? Are they mongooses? I ain’t never seen a gator get punked by no mongooses. Retreat yeah, retreat, yeah, back up, fool.”

It’s true that the idea of Snoop Dogg as a wildlife narrator is hilarious, and many of his fans would love to see him take on Attenborough’s job.

Now this may turn into a battle of the fans, given how popular Planet Earth is and is followed by a host of nature lovers all around the world. The much-loved BBC program hosted by David Attenborough deals with the issues that face the planet and the animals living on it. Planet Earth airs on Animal Planet in the United States and is also shown in 130 countries. Planet Earth is a critically acclaimed show and is very well researched and scholarly. It has also won a number of awards, including Best Nonfiction Series at the Emmy Awards. Planet Earth is a British TV series that took five years to be produced. It premiered in the UK in 2006 and was subsequently premiered all over the world. Since then, it has garnered its own following.

We don’t know if Snoop Dogg would host the popular series or if another petition to rival this petition would soon come up, but one thing is for sure — his fans want more from him. Is Snoop Dogg ready to give?
