‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ Star Ben Affleck To Direct His Solo Batman Project?

Although Ben Affleck is well-known for his talents as an actor, the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star is also a successful director. In fact, Affleck has helmed a number of different movies that reached critical success, including Gone Baby Gone, Argo, and The Town. With that in mind, is Affleck set to direct a solo Batman movie?

In an interview with USA Today, Affleck admitted that the idea of directing a superhero movie is daunting, especially one on the scale of his upcoming movie, Batman v Superman.

“I’ll just say going through the process, I would never have imagined that I could or would direct a movie like this,” Affleck explained.

Although Affleck is aware of how imposing such a project would be, the actor went on to admit that he was inspired by Zack Snyder’s work on Batman v Superman. Is this a hint that he is considering directing his own Batman film?

“And in working with (Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder) and seeing what he did and watching him every day, I got really inspired by that and by seeing the scope on which he was telling the story,” Affleck told the outlet. “By seeing what he was able to do with this kind of mythic story on a grand scale.”

According to Cinema Blend, network executives are seriously considering hiring Affleck as the director for the new Batman film. Whether or not this ends up becoming a reality is yet to be seen, but at least fans know that Affleck is up for the task.

In fact, Affleck previously revealed to Heroic Hollywood that he is more than open taking on a future project like a standalone Batman movie. However, the only condition Affleck has is that the soy has to be great.

“Look, if I could make it work, yeah, obviously it would be a dream. The trick is, as to any movie, is to make sure that you – if you’re going to direct it – that you can make it good,” Affleck stated. “You’ve got to have the right idea and the right take on it. Broadly speaking, it’s something I’d be open to, for sure. It’s a very exciting idea.”

Affleck is currently set to join Henry Cavill in the upcoming Batman v Superman, which also marks his first movie as the caped crusader. If the network is as pleased with Affleck’s performance as reports indicate, then Affleck may very well have a chance on directing his own superhero flick.

Affleck’s last role in the superhero universe was in the 2003 film, Daredevil. Despite the movie receiving plenty of negative reviews, his upcoming role as the new Batman has reportedly been met with praise by both executives and Snyder.

That being said, directing a superhero movie and acting in one are two very different things. With Affleck’s schedule being so busy it isn’t clear if the actor will have the time to dedicate to directing a new project and starring in it as well.

However, Affleck is not known to shy away from a challenge, and if he is given the opportunity to direct the next Batman movie it’s not likely that he’ll turn it down. This is especially true considering his latest comments and how inspired he was by Snyder’s directing abilities.

Until more information is released, fans will be able to see Affleck in his newest role when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters on March 25. At the same time, Affleck’s next directing project, Live By Night, is set to premiere in theaters in 2017.
