Katie Holmes On Dating After Divorcing Tom Cruise: ‘I Feel Like I’m Still A Teenager In A Lot Of Ways’
Katie Holmes is often a person of great interest to non-celebrities, simply because of the great lengths to which the actress goes to avoid publicly discussing her personal life. It’s certainly understandable, but, the greater the lengths she goes to hide her personal life, the more the public will suspect there is something worthy of so much concealment.
Katie won’t talk about her marriage to Tom Cruise. She sneaks around with Jamie Foxx. She hides her daughter away, except for a rare photo posted to her Instagram account. There is a fine line between guarding one’s privacy and acting like you have something to feel guilty about and Ms. Holmes seems to have blurred that line. For this reason, it’s that much more surprising that the All We Had actress and director recently opened up about her love life.
Katie Holmes Speaks Out About Dating And Romance, Following Her Divorce From Tom Cruise
When asked how she handled life after divorcing Tom Cruise in 2012, Holmes responded by saying that the key is to not let any one part of your life fall by the wayside. She says it’s extremely important to keep going, to keep challenging yourself in every aspect of your life. Katie suggests surrounding yourself with creative people, those who inspire your own interests and enrich your life. For her, this was how she kept herself together, following the divorce.
What about dating?
“That’s not something I want to answer … [I don’t] have a five or 10-year plan. I feel like I’m still a teenager in a lot of ways,” Holmes said. “I do a lot of things I did then. I paint, I color. I cook sometimes. I still feel like a girl. I don’t quite feel like a woman, maybe because I’m the baby of my family. I’ll probably be 90 and feel like, ‘Not a woman yet!’ Ha!”
So much for getting Katie to admit to her suspected romance with Jamie Foxx. Also excluded from acceptable interview questions was anything pertaining to the actress’ marriage to Cruise. It seems the Ray Donovan star is still keeping much about her life very private.
Backtracking steadily into her comfort zone, Katie again talks about her career, revealing that when success first came to her with Dawson’s Creek at 18, she was overwhelmed by the entire experience. Now 37, she says she’s better able to appreciate success and the exploration of her own creativity. Holmes says she’s also more confident on the business end of Hollywood as well. She knows what she wants and she can be firm enough to get it.
Jamie Foxx Is Still A Very Big Part Of Katie’s Life, Even If She Won’t Talk About It
Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx may not be ready to go public in an official way, but their actions seem to be telling the story they would prefer not be told. Previously, Katie treated her own daughter, Suri, and Jamie Foxx’s youngest daughter, 4-year-old Annalise, to a lunch date. Now, sources report that Katie and Suri spent an afternoon in Beverly Hills with Corrine Foxx, Jamie’s older daughter.
“Corinne was so cute with Suri, and the three of them looked like they were having a lot of fun together,” the insider said. “They were all so relaxed with each other, it seemed like they knew each other really well and spent time together before this day.”
The implication is that Holmes and Foxx are trying to get their children acclimated to a future melding of their two families, before anything advances, as far as a change in living situations. Adding credence to this theory is the fact that Jamie Foxx wore a diamond band to the 2016 Golden Globes, while Ms. Holmes was recently spotted wearing a similar diamond ring at another event.
