Holly Jones Facebook Rant: Heart Attack Victim ‘Ruined Our Meal’ — Pub Owner’s Epic Reply Goes Viral

Holly Jones, a hairdresser in Indianapolis, Indiana, is under attack online today after a rant she allegedly posted on a restaurant’s Facebook page complaining that another diner who suffered a heart-attack “ruined” her meal by having the bad manners to be wheeled past her party on a gurney by paramedics. But the reply posted by the restaurant’s owner also went viral — and is receiving worldwide praise.

Here’s what happened in the story that has been picked up by news outlets as far away as Australia.

After what she felt was a bad New Year’s Eve experience at Kilroy’s Bar and Grill in downtown Indianapolis, Jones (pictured above) took to the eatery’s own Facebook page to post what could politely be called a message of complaint, but perhaps more accurately should be described as an angry rant.

In the rant, Jones accused the restaurant of “allowing a junkie in the building to overdose on your property.”

“I will never go back to this location for New Year’s Eve!!! After the way we were treated when we spent $700+ and having our meal ruined by watching a dead person being wheeled out from an overdose my night has been ruined!!!” Jones wrote — adding that the restaurant’s manager had treated them rudely when they complained about their bill, telling her and her party that “someone dying was more important then [sic] us being there making us feel like our business didn’t matter.”

Jones has since deleted her own Facebook account, presumably to duck the inevitable storm of online outrage that raged in her direction. She also denied — in a post made before her page disappeared — that she made the “junkie” post on the Kilroy’s page, saying that “someone else did from my account” and claiming to be “disgusted and embarrassed that my name is attached to it.”

Why Jones, or whoever made the post, jumped to the conclusion that the unfortunate fellow New Year’s Eve diner was a “junkie” who had “overdosed” is not clear. In fact, as Kilroy’s owner Chris Burton wasted no time in responding, the victim was, in fact, a 70-year-old woman dining out with her family, and who had suffered a cardiac arrest.

The woman’s name has not been publicly released, but fortunately, she was not “a dead person.” In fact, the woman miraculously survived the serious heart attack and is now battling to recover at Indiana University Methodist Hospital. Her family has created a GoFundMe account to assist with medical bills and the subsequent care that she will require as she continues to fight her way back. That GoFundMe page can be accessed at this link.

Burton announced that Kilroy’s would donate $500 to help with the stricken customer’s recovery — but not before he ripped Holly Jones in a Facebook reply to her complaint.

“Thanks for reaching out! We love feedback, whether it be positive or negative. I especially like feedback like this so others can see the disgusting people that we have to deal with sometimes,” Burton wrote, explaining that the “junkie” was in fact the woman who suffered a heart attack.

“This poor lady, who was celebrating New Years Eve with her husband and son, had to be placed on the floor of a completely packed bar and have her shirt removed in front of everyone so the paramedics could work on her. But I can completely understand why you think being intoxicated a******s that didn’t understand your bill should take priority over human life. I especially appreciate you making your server (who doesn’t curse) cry as well. I’m sure she really enjoyed working on New Year’s Eve just to deal with people such as yourself.”

Burton also told Holly Jones that she was “cold hearted and nasty,” and that he “won’t lose a second of sleep” over her pledge never to return to Kilroy’s.
