Pop Star Lily Allen Uses Twitter To Announce She’s Recording New Music

Brace yourselves pop world.

Lily Allen has announced via Twitter that she is currently recording new material with U.S producer/songwriter Greg Kurstin, with whom she wrote the Ivor Novello award-winning hit The Fear.

Little has been heard from Allen since she announced she was retiring from the music business after the release of her last album “It’s Not Me, It’s You” in 2009, produced and co-written with Kurstin.

Well known for her outspokenness, Allen made the revelation after PopJustice Editor, Peter Robinson responded to Allen’s comments on Twitter about Kate Nash’s recent comeback (for the record, Allen called it “pretty cool”.)

Robinson tweeted Allen saying, “It’s better than no music at all isn’t it. ISN’T IT LILY.”

Allen tweeted back, “You will be pleased to know that [I] am currently in the f**king studio with @GregKurstin so SHUT UP PETER![sic]”

Perhaps feeling a little exposed, Allen qualified by following up with this:

“No big deal really, im just throwing s**t at the wall and seeing if anything sticks.”

The last few years have been eventful for the 27-year-old. After bursting onto the pop scene in 2006 with Smile – which eventually went to number one, followed by a succession of hits and sales of over 8 million, Allen ducked out of the fray and opened a vintage clothes boutique Lucy In Disguise wiith her half-sister.

A marriage last June to businessman Sam Cooper and birth of a longed-for child last November – Ethel Mary – after two previous miscarriages, may possibly mean the singer is ready to get back to her creative roots.

No doubt the news will delight her record-company EMI and millions of fans.
