Things got a bit awkward between Harry Styles and Gigi Hadid at the 2015 American Music Awards. The One Direction singer has been accused of rolling his eyes at Taylor Swift’s BFF on the red carpet. What really happened between the two stars?
Fans would assume that everybody loves Gigi Hadid. The blonde beauty has millions of Instagram followers and is this generation’s “It” girl. However, it appears Harry Styles is not a fan of the model. Both Gigi Hadid and Harry Styles seemed a bit uncomfortable with each other when they were interviewed on the red carpet at the AMAs on Sunday night.
It all started when Styles, 21, and his 1D bandmates were talking to Giuliana Rancic prior to the awards. Hadid, 21, made her way up to the platform, waiting to be the next one to speak with Rancic.
Of course, Giuliana wanted the boy band to meet the gorgeous model. “Do you guys wanna meet Gigi Hadid? Do you want to welcome her up? Come up, Gigi!” the E! host said once the model arrived. She also made One Direction clear a path so that Gigi could join them up on the podium.
“Have you ever met One Direction, Gigi?” Rancic asked the model. Hadid and Styles shared a quick handshake , before she gave the rest of the guys – Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson – hugs. Ouch. After the awkward introduction, Rancic quickly brushed off the band and interviewed Hadid. Styles did give Hadid a friendly pad on the arm before walking away with his band.
But, there a few things that fans have noticed. Once Gigi entered the podium, she had to stand between Harry and Liam, so it’s not like she had any room to stand anywhere else. Some have argued that Gigi was the first one to outstretch her hand to Harry, but it was actually he who already had his hand ready as he was talking. When Gigi glanced down, you can tell that it was Harry who reached out to shake her hand, to remain polite.
After she shook Styles’ hand, Niall Horan outstretched his hand to shake hers as well, but Hadid went in for a hug. That’s when she hugged the remaining guys of the band. Some fans even took to Twitter to exclaim that Styles rolled his eyes after shaking Hadid’s hands.

Harry Styles and Gigi Hadid’s awkward interaction on the red carpet may not mean anything at all. Or it could. After all Gigi is part of Taylor Swift’s squad and Harry used to date the “Bad Blood” singer. Maybe he found out that she’s dating former 1D bandmate, Zayn Malik. Rumors are circulating that two of the most gorgeous people in the world are finally dating each other.
