Bindi Irwin, Derek Hough Talk ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Week 9, Look Ahead To Week 10

Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough had quite the night during the Week 9 broadcast of Dancing With the Stars. They scored a perfect 30 on their stunning Viennese waltz and scored another 30 on their duet performance with Mark Ballas and Alexa PenaVega. Now Bindi and Derek will prepare for Week 10 as they continue their quest to win the Season 21 mirror-ball trophy. What did the two have to say after the show, and what’s coming up in Week 10?

As it turns out, this pair was battling illness issues for Week 9. Bindi Irwin told People that Derek Hough had strep throat this past week and she had been quite worried about him. Though it was never addressed in the video package played before Bindi and Derek’s performance, it seems that Hough was on IVs throughout the week and had even been so sick after the couple’s Week 8 performance that his father had to drive him home.

Derek mentioned that he had been battling both strep and the flu, and he faced some self-imposed pressure about getting the dance right as well. Despite that, “Team Crikey” wowed the judges and the audience with their dances. Their success in Week 9 means they are moving on to Week 10, and many feel confident that Derek and Bindi will soon find themselves in the finals as well.

However, Pure Derek Hough shared the post-show media clips and Team Crikey is taking nothing for granted. During a chat with AfterBuzz TV after the Week 9 show, Derek said he would love to see Bindi win Season 21, but all they are doing is looking ahead to the next two dances they need to tackle. Bindi says that while she wants to stay, every week she just feels grateful for what she has accomplished.

Though Derek has had many great partners in the past on DWTS, it is clear that this relationship with Bindi is a special one. As Derek shared in a chat with E! Online, Hough believes that Irwin brings something real and authentic to the show, and he considers it a blessing to work with her. Bindi refers to Derek as a big brother and says she’s blessed to be working with him.

Week 9 may have been a tough week for Bindi and Derek in terms of rehearsals, they pulled it all together and gave DWTS fans a couple of fantastic performances. Now fans can turn their attention to the Week 10 dances. What Dancing With the Stars spoilers are available for Derek and Bindi’s next performances?

According to PureDWTS, viewers will see the trio dances return for Week 10. These are usually fantastic performances and Team Crikey fans can’t wait to see what Derek and Bindi create for this one. Will Mark Ballas join them for their trio? Fans are already buzzing about this and it would be a great dance, though Ballas did mention during an appearance Tuesday with Alexa on The View that he had injured his foot Monday night. Fans will have to stay tuned on this front for a bit.

There will be individual dances performed in Week 10 along with the trio dances, and more DWTS spoilers should be emerging about this episode very soon. It seems that the pairs will be tackling ballroom styles for this next show, though everybody will have to wait for more specifics on that front.

There is already some talk of both Peta Murgatroyd and perhaps Emma Slater returning in this Week 10 episode, likely for the trio dances. The buzz is that Peta is joining Sharna Burgess and Nick Carter, and many would guess that perhaps Emma will join Alek Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold. However, nothing seems to be official regarding these trio groupings as of yet.

Will Bindi and Derek cruise through the semi-finals and finals, scooping up the Season 21 mirror-ball trophy? DWTS fans have been loving these two together and cannot wait to see what more they bring to the dance floor this season. However, there are still some great other dancers left in the competition, and Dancing With the Stars fans rooting for Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough need to make sure they vote to keep Team Crikey in the running.
