Miranda Lambert Rocks Black Dress And Pink Hair At CMA Awards, Country Girl Wins Big But Has She Lost Her Sassiness?
It has not been an easy road for Miranda Lambert this past year. However, this country girl looks like she is bouncing back as she attended the 2015 CMA Awards on Wednesday night. Looking as hot as ever, she took her first stroll down the red carpet with ex-husband Blake Shelton attending the same event as expected.
Lambert rocked a sleek black dress and she topped it off with a splash of pink-colored hair. The photos posted by People proved that she could pull off a rock star look while still sticking with her country roots. Her hair was not the only thing that was the talk of the night, as Miranda also took home the award for Female Vocalist of the Year, as well as performed another hit song from her Platinum album.
Miranda looked amazing, but she may have lost some her her spunk and sassiness that she always seems to display on and off the stage. Everyone seemed to be anticipating her arrival, as well as her ex, Blake Shelton. Since the shocking announcement in July that they were no longer married, this former couple has seemed to be on decent terms with each other, despite the heartbreak over their divorce.
It may have seemed a bit awkward for both Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton as the night progressed, especially when hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood toted jokes about the former couple’s breakup. Shelton mentioned to Seth Meyers that he and his ex-wife were bracing themselves to be the butt of their jokes that night.
“[Country music] is such a family. Everybody there is friends, you know? There’s gotta be a joke about me and Miranda. [Co-host] Brad Paisley is not doing his job if he doesn’t look down there and go, ‘Haha!’ I mean, he’s gotta do it.”
Brad and Carrie did not disappoint. However, it wasn’t too bad. The hosts joked around about some of the high-profile divorces this past year. Underwood then mentioned the “break up that really rocked our world.” The camera then focused on Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy to lighten up the mood. Then Paisley finally recognized Shelton.
“On a completely unrelated topic, howdy Blake.”
Miranda Lambert was not mentioned by the hosts, but she later went on stage to belt out her latest emotionally-packed tune called “Bathroom Sink.” As USA Today described it as a song with “grit and grace,” she certainly had everyone captivated by the words. Miranda seemed to have a less-sassy performance than she usually does, but the lyrics spoke for themselves.
“It’s amazing the amount of rejection that I see. In my reflection and I can’t get out of the way. I’m lookin’ forward to the girl I wanna be. But regret has a way of starin’ me right in the face. So I try not to waste too much time at the bathroom sink.”
The 31-year-old performer sang it just perfectly with as much coolness as you could get, despite the fact that just hours before this event, news of her ex dating another woman was the talk of the day.
There had been earlier rumors that Blake Shelton and his co-star on The Voice, Gwen Stefani, were dating. Those rumors have just been confirmed as true by People. Lambert told the magazine that she wasn’t too surprised by the hookup between them. She said that she recognized the flirtation between those two on the show, but Miranda mentioned that she was surprised that their relationship was happening this soon.
It certainly made a very difficult situation even more awkward at the CMA Awards. Although Stefani was nowhere to be seen in the audience, she was expected to attend the after-parties with her new beau. However, Miranda Lambert came out on top, in more ways than one. The “Little Red Wagon” singer took home another Female Vocalist of the Year award and the respect of those around her. She even rocked her Chris Stapleton shirt and black jeans that she wore as she performed and accepted her coveted award on stage.
